Bis{μ-2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolato}bis-[(thio-cyanato)manganese(III)].

ABSTRACT: The reported structure is a monoclinic polymorph of the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(2)(NCS)(2)], which has been characterized previously in an ortho-rhom-bic form. Each Mn(III) atom is chelated by a tetra-dentate 2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate ligand and by the N atom of a thio-cyanate anion, in a square-pyramidal arrangement. The complexes form centrosymmetric dimers, with an Mn-O contact of 2.557 (3) Å trans to each thio-cyanate anion, completing a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(2)(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(2)], contains an Ni(II) cation which is coordinated by two imine N atoms and by two phenolate O atoms of the salen ligand {salen = N,N'-bis-(salicyl-idene)ethane-1,2-diamine or 2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diyl-bis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenol}, leading to a distorted square-planar conformation. When a secondary Ni-O inter-action > 2.41 Å to the neighbouring phenolate O atom is considered, two mol-ecules are linked into a centrosymmetric dimer with an overall square-pyramidal coordination for the Ni(II) cation. Weak π-π inter-actions with a shortest interplanar distance of 3.704 Å help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(NCO)], is a monoclinic polymorph of the previously published ortho-rhom-bic form [Lu et al. (2006 ?). Inorg. Chem.45, 3538-3548]. The Mn(III) ion is chelated by a tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand and coordinated by the N atom of a cyanate ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal arrangement. In the crystal, there are short inter-molecular Mn?O(phenolate) distances of 2.752?(3)?Å between pairs of inversion-related mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(H(2)O)], is a Jahn-Teller-distorted manganese(III) monomer with an octa-hedral geometry. The tetra-dentate Schiff base accommodates the Mn(III) ion at the centre of a nearly planar square. The axial positions are occupied by a monodentate carboxyl-ate group and a water mol-ecule. Adjacent monomers inter-act through hydrogen bonding between the noncoordinated C=O group of the carboxyl-ate and the coordinated water mol-ecule to produce chains extending parallel to the b axis.

Project description:The title Mn(III) compound, {[Mn(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(CH(3)COO)]·CH(3)OH}(n), was synthesized by a reaction between mangan-ese(II) acetate and ethyl-enebis(4-meth-oxy-salicylaldimine). The structure is made up of bis-(4-meth-oxy-salicyldene)ethyl-enediaminatomanganese(III) units bridged by acetate groups, with Mn-N = 1.9786?(9), Mn-O = 1.8784?(10) and Mn-O(acetate) = 2.056?(9) and 2.2571?(9)?Å, forming a one dimensional polymer (-Mn-acetate-Mn-acetate-) along [100]. The Mn(III) atom is in a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral environment with cis angles ranging from 81.87?(4) to 96.53?(4)° and trans angles ranging from 166.11?(3) to 173.93?(3)°. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to the phenolate O atom. In addition to this classical hydrogen bond, there are weak C-H?O inter-actions. The structure was determined from a crystal twinned by pseudo-merohedry.
