ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(14)H(10)FN(3)O(3)S, consists of an indole unit and a phenylsulfonyl unit that are disposed in an approximately trans orientation relative to the N-N single bond. Two mol-ecules are arranged about a center of inversion, forming a hydrazide-carbonyl N-H?O hydrogen-bonded dimer; the dimers are linked by an indole-sulfonyl N-H?O hydrogen bond into a ribbon.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, C(26)H(18)N(4)O(6)S·C(2)H(6)OS, shows an E conformation of the hydrazone double bond. The presence of a methyl-ene group between the benzo[de]isoquinoline and benzene-sulfonyl moieties allows the 4-nitro-phenyl ring and the benzo[de]isoquinoline system to be parallel with respect to each other, so that the mol-ecule adopts a U-shaped spatial conformation. The dihedral angle between mean planes of these aromatic groups is 4.4 (1)°. This special arrangement enables neighboring mol-ecules to be inter-calated, forming slipped π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.535 (2) Å] between the 4-nitro-phenyl and benzo[de]isoquinoline groups and point-to-face C-H⋯π inter-actions between the benzo[de]isoquinoline and benzene-sulfonyl aromatic systems. In addition, the crystal packing also features an inter-molecular N-H⋯O inter-action involving the amine group and the dimethyl sulfoxide solvent mol-ecule.

Project description:In the title compound, C18H14N6O2, the benzene ring is slightly twisted out of the plane of the 1,2,3-triazole ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.010?Å), forming a dihedral angle of 6.20?(13)°. The nine non-H ring atoms of the fused five- and six-membered ring system are almost coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.032?Å). The near coplanarity in the central residue is consolidated by an intra-molecular bifurcated N-H?(O,N) hydrogen bond. The conformation about the N=C bond is Z. The compound has two almost planar fragments linked to the S atom: the isatin-derivative fragment [(C(8)H(5)NO)N-N(H)-] and the tolyl fragment [C(7)H(7)-] have maximum deviations from the mean plane through the non-H atoms of 0.0813 (13) and 0.0094 (16) Å, respectively, and make an inter-planar angle of 80.48 (3)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected into inversion dimers via pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Additionally, the mol-ecular structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

Project description:Reaction of 2-(4-chloro-3,3,7-trimethyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-indol-2-yl-idene)propane-dial with hydroxyl-amine gives the title compound, C(14)H(14)ClN(3)O, in which the ring N atom is essentially planar [sum of angles around the ring N atom = 361°], indicating conjugation with the 2-cyano-acryl-amide unit. The orientation of the acetamide group arises from intra-molecular hydrogen bonding between the indole N-H and carbonyl groups. In the crystal, inversion-related acetamide groups form N-H?O hydrogen-bonded dimers in graph-set R(2) (2)(8) motifs, whilst dimers are also formed by pairs of amine-nitrile N-H?N hydrogen bonds in R(2) (2)(12) motifs. These inter-actions together generate ribbons that propagate along the b-axis direction.
