ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Cu(C(15)H(13)NO(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))], the Schiff base ligand is derived from the condensation of 2-hydr-oxy-1-naphthaldehyde and l-threonine. The Cu(II) atom is five-coordinated by one N atom and two O atoms from the Schiff base ligand and by two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal structure, the combination of inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds leads to a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the five-coordinated Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal CuN(4)O environment; the O atom is in the axial position whereas the N atoms from two bipyridine (bipy) ligands are in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. The nitrite anion is equally disordered over two sets of sites.

In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. A π-π inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.461 (1) Å is also present.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)N(2)O(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·C(4)H(8)O, features a penta-coordinate Cu(II) atom bound by two monodentate carboxyl-ate ligands, a bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule [dihedral angle between pyridine rings = 5.0 (2)°] and a water mol-ecule. The resulting N(2)O(3) donor set defines a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with the coordinated water mol-ecule in the apical position. In the crystal, the presence of O-H(w)⋯O(c) (w = water and c = carbon-yl) hydrogen bonding leads to the formation of a supra-molecular chain propagating along the c axis, which associates into a double chain via C-H⋯ O and π-π contacts between pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.527 (3) Å]. The solvent mol-ecules, which are disordered over two orientations in a 0.678 (11):0.322 (11) ratio, occupy voids defined by the complex mol-ecules and are held in place via C-H⋯O inter-actions.

The Cu(II) ion and the water O atom lie on a twofold axis. The Cu(II) ion exhibits a six-coordinate distorted octa-hedral geometry, with two N atoms from the bipy ligand [Cu-N = 1.9996 (16) Å] and four O atoms from two 3-meth-oxy-benzoate ligands [Cu-O = 1.9551 (15) and 2.6016 (16) Å]. Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(5)O(5))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], lies across a crystallographic twofold axis, around which two 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy) ligands are arranged in a propeller manner. The local geometry of the NiN(4)O(2) coordination core basically adopts an octa-hedral geometry. The mol-ecular twofold axis is along the direction of the mol-ecular dipole moment, and the complex is packed with its dipole moment alternately along the +b and -b directions. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers related by a non-crystallographic inversion center. Within the polymers, the Cu(II )atoms, coordinated by the water mol-ecule and the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligands, are bridged by 5-nitro-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianions which act as tridentate ligands; the carboxyl-ate groups exhibit monodentate and symmetric bidentate coordination modes. The Cu(II) atoms show a strongly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal structure, the two symmetry-independent coordination polymers form another one-dimensional polymeric structure via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), contains a bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)(isothio-cyanato)copper(II) cation and a perchlorate anion. In the cation, the Cu(2+) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecules and an N atom from an isothio-cyanate anion, resulting in a distorted CuN(5) pyramidal configuration. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, and weak π-π inter-actions between 2,2'-bipyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908 (4) Å]. The perchlorate counteranion is disordered over two positions in a 0.66:0.34 ratio.

The central V(IV) atom is six-coordinated by one oxide O atom, two N atoms from 1,10-phenanthroline and one N atom and two O atoms from the Schiff base ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers. The C atoms of the dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule are disordered over two sites with site-occupancy factors of 0.732 (13) and 0.268 (13).

Project description:In the structure of the title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(5)O(2))(OH)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(C(7)H(6)O(2))]·H(2)O, the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry with one O atom of a hydroxide group, one O atom of a benzoate anion and two N atoms of a 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and one O atom of a benzoic acid mol-ecule located at the apical site. The title complex was refined with a metal-coordinated OH group and a 'free' benzoic acid molecule, although it can be assumed that the proton is delocalized between the OH and the COOH group. The uncoordinated water mol-ecule is equally disordered over two positions. The structure displays O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)Cl(2)(NO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], which consists of a chloride-bridged Cu(II) dimer, the Cu atom is in a distorted octa-hedral environment defined by two N atoms from the 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid ligand (H(2)bpdca), two bridging chlorido ligands, and two O atoms from an equatorial water mol-ecule and an axial nitrate anion, respectively. The two halves of the dimeric unit are related by an inversion centre at the midpoint between the two Cu atoms. Both carboxylic acid groups in the H(2)bpdca ligand remain protonated, as confirmed by the two sets of C-O bond lengths. The dinuclear mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network via inter-molecular hydrogen bonds.
