Dichlorido(2-chloro-9-mesityl-1,10-phenanthroline-?N,N')cobalt(II) dichloro-methane hemisolvate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(21)H(17)ClN(2))]·0.5CH(2)Cl(2), crystallizes from dichloro-methane as a 2:1 solvate [CoCl(2)L](2)·CH(2)Cl(2) (L is 2-chloro-9-mesityl-1,10-phenanthroline). There are two independent CoCl(2)L mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit and both mol-ecules have similar conformations. They are connected by a weak C-H?? inter-action involving the mesityl ring. The cobalt center is four-coordinated by the two N-atom donors of the bidentate ligand and two chloride ions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The packing of the mol-ecules is stabilized by weak slipped ?-? stacking inter-actions between symmetry-related phenanthroline groups.

The title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(21)H(17)ClN(2))]·0.5CH(2)Cl(2), crystallizes from dichloro-methane as a 2:1 solvate [CoCl(2)L](2)·CH(2)Cl(2) (L is 2-chloro-9-mesityl-1,10-phenanthroline). Project description:In the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))], the Co(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by two N atoms from a 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two Cl atoms. The Co atom and the phenanthroline unit are located on a mirror plane. The methyl H atoms are disordered about the mirror plane and areeach half-occupied. In the crystal structure, π-π inter-actions between the pyridine and benzene rings and between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.8821 (9) and 3.9502 (10) Å, respectively] stabilize the structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(26)H(20)N(2))]·0.5CH(3)CN, contains two crystallographic-ally independent [HgCl(2)(C(26)H(20)N(2))] mol-ecules and one acetonitrile solvent mol-ecule. The Hg(II) atoms are four-coordin-ated in distorted tetra-hedral configurations by two N atoms from 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two Cl atoms. The ligand ring systems are not planar. The phenyl rings are oriented at dihedral angles of 74.61?(3) and 66.00?(3)° in the two molecules. In the crystal structure, ?-? contacts between phenanthroline rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.809?(1), 3.686?(1), 3.986?(1), 3.877?(1), 3.697?(1), 3.789?(1), 3.745?(1), 3.797?(1) and 3.638?(1)?Å] may stabilize the structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], the Pd(2+) ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two chloride ions. The nearly planar mol-ecules, with a maximum deviation of 0.120?(3)?Å from the least-squares plane, are stacked in columns along the c axis with a Pd?Pd distance of 4.8340?(9)?Å. Project description:All non-H atoms except for the Cl atoms lie on a mirror plane in the title complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(16)H(16)N(2)O(2))]. The Zn(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from a bis-chelating 2,9-dieth-oxy-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two symmetry-related Cl atoms in a distorted tetra-hedral environment. The two Zn-N bond lengths are significantly different from each other and the N-Zn-N angle is acute. In the crystal structure, there are weak but significant ?-? stacking inter-actions between phenanthroline rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.764?(1)?Å.
