N,N-Bis(2-hydroxy-benzyl-idene)-2,2'-bipyridyl-3,3'-dicarbohydrazide.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(26)H(20)N(6)O(4), the two aroylhydrazone side groups exist as diastereomeres, both in the keto form in the crystal structure. The aroylhydrazone units support the mol-ecular conformation through an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. Two mol-ecules are connected into a centrosymmetric dimer by inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. These dimers are connected into chains along the a axis by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The combination of these hydrogen bonds results in layers in the bc plane. The layers are further linked by weak C-H⋯π contacts to form a three-dimensional network structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title Schiff base compound, C(19)H(20)Br(2)N(2)O(2), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit, with similar conformations. Intra-molecular O-H?N (× 4) and C-H?N (× 5) hydrogen bonds form six- and five-membered rings, producing S(6) and S(5) ring motifs, respectively. One of the N atoms in mol-ecule A acts as a trifurcated acceptor, the rest of the N atoms being bifurcated acceptors. The dihedral angles between the benzene rings in mol-ecules A and B are 47.83?(17) and 61.11?(17)°, respectively. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H?N and C-H?N hydrogen bonds. The short distances between the centroids of the benzene rings [3.7799?(19)-3.890?(2)?Å] indicate the existence of ?-? inter-actions. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by an inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond, C-H?? inter-actions, and short inter-molecular Br?Br and Br?O contacts [3.4786?(5) and 3.149?(3)?Å, respectively].

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·CH(3)OH, contains one monomeric seven-coordinate cadmium complex and one methanol solvate mol-ecule. The Cd(II) atom is coordinated to two 2,2'-bipyridyl ligands via the N atoms and to two salicylate anions (Hsal(-)) via the carboxyl-ate O atoms, which act as monodentate ligand for the one and bidentate ligand for the second. The Cd(II) atom exhibits a {6 + 1} environment, approximately described as a distorted capped octa-hedron with the apical positions occupied by one of the two N atoms belonging to one bipyridyl ligand and one of the two carboxyl-ate O atoms from the monodentate Hsal(-) ligand. Two intra-molecular six-membered hydrogen-bonded rings are present, generated from inter-actions between the carboxyl-ate and hydr-oxy groups of the salicylate ligands. There is one inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-action involving the methanol solvent mol-ecule and the carboxyl-ate group from the monodentate Hsal(-) ligand. The crystal packing is governed by ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.783?(4)?Å] which occur between bipyridyl ligands, by C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions and by numerous van der Waals contacts.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compund, C(30)H(28)N(2)O(2), a Schiff base synthesised via a condensation reaction between 4-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde and 3,3'-dimethyl-benzidine, a crystallographic twofold rotation axis passes through the mid-point of the C-C bond of the biphenyl unit. Thus, the asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule. In the biphenyl unit, the aromatic rings are twisted by 13.49?(7)° with respect to one another. The dihedral angles between the biphenyl and meth-oxy-benzene rings are 49.95?(12) and 50.06?(12)°. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H? The complete biphenyl-3,3',4,4'-tetra-carboxyl-ate ligand displays inversion symmetry and links two symmetry-related Ni(II) atoms into a binuclear complex. Neighbouring complex mol-ecules are linked through O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure. Additional O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the lattice water mol-ecules help to consolidate the crystal packing.
