Bis(2,2'-bipyridine-?N,N')dichlorido-platinum(IV) dichloride monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [PtCl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]Cl(2)·H(2)O, the Pt(4+) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by four N atoms from the two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two Cl atoms. As a result of the different trans influences of the N and Cl atoms, the Pt-N bonds trans to the Cl atom are slightly longer than those trans to the N atom. The compound displays inter-molecular hydrogen bonding between the water mol-ecule and the Cl anions. There are inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.962?Å.

In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed between the water mol-ecule and the platinum complex, which link the mol-ecules into chains along the c axis.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(2)HN(9))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H?N and N-H?N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7?Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pt(CH(3))(3)I(C(12)H(12)N(2))], the Pt(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral configuration with one CH(3) group and the I atom forming a near perpendicular axis relative to the square plane formed by the bipyridine ligand and the two remaining CH(3) groups. The CH(3) group trans to the I atom has a slightly elongated bond to Pt compared to the other CH(3) groups, indicating a difference in trans influence between iodine and the bipyridine ligand.

Project description:The title compound, {[Mn(3)(C(10)H(5)O(7))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. Six carboxyl-ate groups of six 5-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate anions (OABDC(3-)) join three Mn(II) ions into a trinuclear centrosymmetric [Mn(3)(?(2)-COO)(6)] unit with one Mn site situated on a centre of inversion. The latter Mn(II) ion exhibits a distorted MnO(6) coordination, whereas the other Mn(II) ion has a trigonal-bipyramidal MnN(2)O(3) coordination environment resulting from three carboxylate O atoms and the two N atoms of the bipyridine ligand. Adjacent units are linked to each other by OABDC(3-) ligands into a layer parallel to (010). Within the layer, O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the uncoordinated and half-occupied water mol-ecule and the free carboxyl-ate O atoms are observed. The layers stack along [010], constructing a three-dimensional structure through ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.473?(5)?Å.
