ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(14)H(14)BrNO(2)S, there are two similar non-equivalent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, displaying three chiral centres each. In the crystal structure, they are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds to form infinite chains, which are in turn connected by weak Br?H and S?H inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(13)NO(2), represents a conformationally restricted 2-pyridone analogue of 1,4-dihydro-pyridine-type calcium antagonists and was selected for a crystal structure determination in order to explore some aspects of drug-receptor inter-action. In the mol-ecule, two stereogenic centres are of opposite chirality, whereas a racemate occurs in the crystal. It was found that the formally aminic N atom of the heterocycle is essentially sp(2)-hybridized with the lone-pair electrons partially delocalized through conjugation with the adjacent carbonyl bond. As a result, the central pyridone ring assumes an unsymmetrical half-chair conformation. The critical 4-phenyl ring is fixed in a pseudo-axial and perpendicular orientation [dihedral angle 85.8?(1)°] with respect to the pyridone ring via an oxygen bridge. In the crystal a pair of centrosymmetric N-H?O hydrogen bonds connect mol-ecules of opposite chirality into a dimer. The dimers are packed by hydrophobic van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C15H18N2O5, the meth-oxy-phenyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 84.70?(12)° with the mean plane of the tetra-hydro-pyrimidin-2(1H)-one ring. Both the pyran and tetra-hydro-pyrimidin-2(1H)-one rings have distorted envelope conformations with the carboxyl-ate-substituted C atom as the flap. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag chains propagating along [010], which enclose R (2) 2(8) ring motifs. The chains are linked by C-H?? inter-actions, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (100).

Although each structure has identical potential for N-H?O inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, each forms a distinctive inter-molecular network. In the title compound, there are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, with a non-crystallographic twofold screw-like relationship between them. The two indpendent mol-ecules are linked by an inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond. In the crystal structure, this hydrogen-bonded pair is linked to translationally related mol-ecules through further inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming one-dimensional chains along [100]. The crystal structure also has short Br?O=C inter-molecular contacts with distances of 2.843?(4) and 2.852?(4)?Å.

Project description:The title adduct, chlorido-(2,3-diphenyl-3,4,5,6-tetra-hydro-2H-1,3-thia-zin-4-one-κO)tri-phenyl-tin, [Sn(C6H5)3Cl(C16H15NOS)], resulted from reaction of 2,3-diphenyl-3,4,5,6-tetra-hydro-2H-1,3-thia-zin-4-one with tri-phenyl-tin chloride. The thia-zine ring has an envelope conformation with the S atom forming the flap. The mol-ecule has five phenyl rings, two of them attached to the thia-zine ring at positions 2 and 3, and three in coordination with the Sn(IV) atom. The three rings of the tri-phenyl-tin group are involved in intra-molecular inter-actions of different types, C-H⋯O, edge-to-face (or T-type) π-π inter-actions with the 3-phenyl ring of the thia-zine, T-type inter-actions with both phenyl rings of the thia-zine etc. On the other hand, all the phenyl rings participate in inter-molecular π-π inter-actions. There is one instance of a 'parallel-displaced'-type inter-action extending continuously along the a-axis direction and seven instances of T-type inter-actions stabilizing the crystal lattice.
