Bis(6'-carb-oxy-2,2'-bipyridine-6-carboxyl-ato-?N,N',O)nickel(II) tetra-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ni(C(12)H(7)N(2)O(4))(2)]·4H(2)O, the Ni atom is located at the centre of a distorted octa-hedron, formed by four N atoms and two O atoms from the same two tridentating chelated 6-carb-oxy-2,2'-bipyridine-6'-carboxyl-ate (L) ligands. Face-to-face ?-stacking inter-actions between inversion-related pyridine rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.548?(3) and 3.662?(3)?Å (perpendicular distances between the respective rings are 3.314 and 3.438?Å) are found. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between water mol-ecules and L ligands form R(5) (3)(10), R(6) (5)(14) and R(5) (5)(12) rings and also a centrosymmetric cage-like unit of water mol-ecules, which link eight adjacent Ni(II) centers, forming a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(C(8)H(9)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O, the Ni(II) ion is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment formed by two bis-chelating H(2)pimda (H(3)pimda is 2-propyl-1H-4,5-dicarb-oxy-lic acid) ligands and two coordinated water mol-ecules. In the crystal structure, a three-dimensional framework is formed by inter-molecular O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the solvent water mol-ecules, coordinated water mol-ecules, carboxyl-ate O atoms and the protonated N atoms of the H(2)pimda ligands. The propyl groups of each H(2)pimda ligand are disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancies of 0.50?(2):0.50?(2) and 0.762?(11):0.238?(11). In one water solvent mol-ecule, one of the H atoms was refined as disordered over two sites of equal occupancy.

Project description:In the binuclear centrosymmetric title compound, [In(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O, which contains both pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate and 3-carb-oxy-pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate ligands, the In(III) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. One pyridine ligand is N,O-chelated while the other is N,O-chelated and at the same time bridging to the other via the second carboxyl group. In the crystal, an extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding network, involving the coordinated and lattice water mol-ecules and the carboxyl groups of the ligands, together with C-H?O and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.793?(1)?Å], leads to the formation of a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The title compound, {[Mn(3)(C(10)H(5)O(7))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. Six carboxyl-ate groups of six 5-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate anions (OABDC(3-)) join three Mn(II) ions into a trinuclear centrosymmetric [Mn(3)(?(2)-COO)(6)] unit with one Mn site situated on a centre of inversion. The latter Mn(II) ion exhibits a distorted MnO(6) coordination, whereas the other Mn(II) ion has a trigonal-bipyramidal MnN(2)O(3) coordination environment resulting from three carboxylate O atoms and the two N atoms of the bipyridine ligand. Adjacent units are linked to each other by OABDC(3-) ligands into a layer parallel to (010). Within the layer, O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the uncoordinated and half-occupied water mol-ecule and the free carboxyl-ate O atoms are observed. The layers stack along [010], constructing a three-dimensional structure through ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.473?(5)?Å.

The crystal packing is stabilized by N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding interactions.
