ABSTRACT: In the title compound, (C(8)H(12)N)(2)[ZnCl(4)], the Zn(2+) ion adopts a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, the cations and anions are linked by N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, leading to ribbons propagating parallel to the a axis.

Several short C-H⋯Cl contacts [2.70 (3) and 2.72 (4) Å] are observed, but they are believed to participate only in van der Waals inter-actions. The crystal studied exhibited inversion twinning.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(2)[ZnBr(4)], the coordination geometry of the anion is approximately tetra-hedral and a twofold rotation axis passes through the Zn atom. The Zn-Br bond lengths range from 2.400 (2) to 2.408 (3) Å and the Br-Zn-Br angles range from 108.14 (6) to 115.15 (15)°. In the crystal structure, the [ZnBr(4)](2-) anion is connected to two cations through N-H⋯Br and H(2)C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional cation-anion-cation layers normal to the b axis. No significant Br⋯Br inter-actions [the shortest being 4.423 (4) Å] are observed in the structure.

Crystal structure of bis-(4-acetyl-anilinium) tetra-chlorido-mercurate(II).

Project description:The structure of the title salt, (C8H10NO)2[HgCl4], is isotypic with that of the cuprate(II) and cobaltate(II) analogues. The asymmetric unit contains one 4-acetyl-anilinium cation and one half of a tetra-chlorido-mercurate(II) anion (point group symmetry m). The Hg-Cl distances are in the range 2.4308?(7)-2.5244?(11)?Å and the Cl-Hg-Cl angles in the range of 104.66?(2)-122.94?(4)°, indicating a considerable distortion of the tetra-hedral anion. In the crystal, cations are linked by an inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-action, leading to a C(8) chain motif with the chains extending parallel to the b axis. There is also a ?-? stacking inter-action with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.735?(2)?Å between neighbouring benzene rings along this direction. The anions lie between the chains and inter-act with the cations through inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C12H9N2)2[ZnCl4]·H2O, the two independent 1,10-phenanthrolinium cations are bridged by the water mol-ecule and the tetrahedral tetrachloridozincate anion via N-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [100]. Project description:The structure of the title compound, [CrCl2(C10H24N4)][Cr(HCONH2)2(C10H24N4)][ZnCl4]2 (C10H24N4 = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, cyclam; HCONH2 = formamide, fa), has been determined from synchrotron X-ray data. The asymmetric unit contains two independent halves of the [CrCl2(cyclam)]+ and [Cr(fa)(cyclam)]3+ cations, and one tetra-chlorido-zincate anion. In each complex cation, the CrIII ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam ligand in the equatorial plane and two Cl ligands or two O-bonded formamide mol-ecules in a trans axial arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral geometry with crystallographic inversion symmetry. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.061?(2) to 2.074?(2)?Å, while the Cr-Cl and Cr-O(fa) bond distances are 2.3194?(7) and 1.9953?(19)?Å, respectively. The macrocyclic cyclam moieties adopt the centrosymmetric trans-III conformation with six- and five-membered chelate rings in chair and gauche conformations. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the NH or CH groups of cyclam and the NH2 group of coordinated formamide as donors, and Cl atoms of the ZnCl4 2- anion as acceptors.
