ABSTRACT: The title mol-ecule, [Sn(C(8)H(3)F(6))(4)], lies on a twofold rotation axis with the Sn(IV) ion in a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. Both -CF(3) groups attached to one of the unique benzene rings are disordered over two sets of sites, with the ratios of refined occupancies being 0.719?(14):0.281?(14) and 0.63?(5):0.37?(5).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(4)(C(7)H(6)Cl)(8)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)O(2)(OH)(2)], comprises one-half of the centrosymmetric tin(IV) complex. ?(3)-Oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide bridges link the four five-coordinate Sn(IV) atoms to generate three fused four-membered Sn-O-Sn-O rings in a ladder-like structure. The two endocyclic Sn atoms each bind to two ?(3)-oxide anions and a ?(2)-hydroxide ligand, together with two 2-chloro-benzyl groups. The exocyclic Sn atoms each carry a monodentate phenyl-acetate ligand, two 2-chloro-benzyl groups, and ?(3)-oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide ligands. Both types of Sn atoms adopt a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H?O inter-actions involving the ?(2)-hydroxide ligands and the C=O group of the phenyl-acetate ligand.

Project description:In the title salt, (C(17)H(17)F(6)N(2)O)(2)[Sn(C(6)H(5))(2)Cl(4)], the complete anion is generated by crystallograaphic inversion symmetry, giving a trans-SnC(2)Cl(4) octa-hedral coordination geometry for the metal atom. In the cation, the quinoline residue is almost normal to the other atoms, so that the ion has an L-shaped conformation [the C-C-C-C torsion angle linking the fused-ring systems is 100.9?(7)°]; the six-membered piperidin-1-ium ring has a chair conformation. An intra-molecular N-H?O inter-action occurs. In the crystal, N-H?Cl and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the components into a supra-molecular chain propagating along the a axis. C-H?Cl inter-actions are also present.

The chelating ligands reveal rather strong Sn-N bonds [2.517?(4)?Å], but the protonated dimethylamino groups in the periphery of the complex show no interaction with the metal atoms. The complex cation is located on an inversion centre. The chloride anion is linked to the complex mol-ecule by strong intra-molecular O-H?Cl and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Five independent deuterochloroform accompany the complex, two of them are disordered [occupancy ratios 0.63?(2):0.27?(2) and 0.60?(2):0.40?(2)].
