ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(17)H(12)F(2)N(2)OS, the planar thia-zole ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.012?Å) makes dihedral angles of 15.08?(9) and 81.81?(6)° with the 4-fluoro-phenyl and 2-fluoro-phenyl rings, respectively. The 2-fluoro-phenyl ring is disordered over two orientations with site-occupancy factors of 0.810?(3) and 0.190?(3). The structure contains inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The conformation of the N-H bond in the structure of the title compound, C(15)H(15)NO, is anti to the ortho and meta-methyl substituents in the aniline benzene ring, in contrast to the syn conformation observed with respect to the ortho and meta-chloro substituents in N-(2,3-dichloro-phen-yl)benzamide. Furthermore, the conformations of N-H and C=O bonds in the amide group are anti to each other, similar to those observed in other benzanilides. In the crystal of (I), -A-B-A-B- chains are linked by C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (010). Within the layers there are weak offset ?-? inter-actions present [inter-centroid distances = 3.868?(1) and 3.855?(1)?Å]. In the crystals of (II) and (III), the chains are linked via short halogen-halogen contacts [Br?Br = 3.6141?(4)?Å in (II) and I?I = 3.7797?(5)?Å in (III)], resulting in the formation of ribbons propagating along the b-axis direction.
