ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [SnCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.5C(2)H(4)Cl(2), contains a tin complex and one disordered half-mol-ecule of the solvent dichloro-ethane [occupancies 0.71?(2):0.29?(2)]. The six coordinate Sn(IV) atom adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry. ?-? inter-actions between adjacent aromatic rings [interplanar distance 3.483?(5)?Å] seem to be effective in the stabilization of the crystal packing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PtCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.5CH(3)CN, contains two crystallographically independent Pt(IV) complexes with very similar geometry and one solvent mol-ecule. In the complexes, each Pt(IV) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four Cl atoms. Because of the different trans effects of the N and Cl atoms, the Pt-Cl bonds trans to the N atom are slightly shorter than those trans to the Cl atom. The compound displays numerous inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between six-membered rings, with a shortest centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.654?Å. There are also weak intra- and inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [PtCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O, the Pt(4+) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by four Cl atoms. As a result of the different trans effects of the N and Cl atoms, the Pt-Cl bonds trans to the N atom are slightly shorter than those trans to the Cl atom. The compound displays inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the six-membered rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.834?Å. There are also weak intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. According to the IR spectrum, solvent water was present in the crystal, but owing to the high thermal motion of the uncoordinated O atom, the H atoms could not be detected.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PtCl(3.66)I(0.34)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.5(Cl(0.13)I(1.87)), contains a neutral Pt(IV) complex and one half of a halogen molecule. The Pt(IV) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and Cl or I atoms. The refinement of the structure and the EDX analysis indicate that the compound is a solid solution in which there is some substitution of Cl for I and vice versa. The chemical formula of the pure state of the compound would have been [PtCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.5I(2). In the analysed crystal, two Cl atoms are partially (ca 25% and 9%) replaced by I atoms, and the I(2) mol-ecule has a minor component modelled as ICl. As a result of the disorder, the different trans effects of the N and Cl/I atoms are not distinct. The complex displays inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between the six-membered rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.771 (4) Å. There are also weak intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(21)H(17)ClN(2))]·0.5CH(2)Cl(2), crystallizes from dichloro-methane as a 2:1 solvate [CoCl(2)L](2)·CH(2)Cl(2) (L is 2-chloro-9-mesityl-1,10-phenanthroline). There are two independent CoCl(2)L mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit and both mol-ecules have similar conformations. They are connected by a weak C-H?? inter-action involving the mesityl ring. The cobalt center is four-coordinated by the two N-atom donors of the bidentate ligand and two chloride ions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The packing of the mol-ecules is stabilized by weak slipped ?-? stacking inter-actions between symmetry-related phenanthroline groups.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C24H16N2·0.5CH3OH, is comprised of two independent bathophenanthroline mol-ecules (systematic name: 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline) and one methanol mol-ecule. The bathophenanthroline mol-ecules are not planar as there is a considerable rotation of all terminal phenyl rings with respect to the central phenanthroline units [dihedral angles in the range 52.21 (12)-62.14 (10)°]. In addition, a non-negligible torsion is apparent in one of the phenanthroline units: the angle between the mean planes of the two pyridine rings is 14.84 (13)°. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is linked to both N atoms of a bathophenanthroline mol-ecule through a bifurcated O-H⋯(N,N) hydrogen bond.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(H(2)O)]·C(12)H(8)N(2), which was refined in the triclinic space group P [Fu, Gao, Ma & Zhang (2005 ?). Chin. J. Synth. Chem. 13, 55-57], has been redetermined in the monoclinic space group C2/c from low-temperature diffraction measurements. The Sn atom is five-coordinate in a trans-C(3)SnClO trigonal-bipyramidal geometry; the coordinated water mol-ecule forms a pair of hydrogen bonds to the nitro-gen heterocycle.
