ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(18)H(10)O(4), has been isolated as an impurity in commercially available 6,11-dihydr-oxy-5,12-naphth-acenedione. The title compound exhibits yellow fluorescence in the solid state. The mol-ecule has crystallographic inversion symmetry and is planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.031?(1)?Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions between 3-methyl-eneisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one units [inter-planar distance 3.43?(1)?Å].

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(10)O(5), consists of two isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one moieties which are linked by a bridging O atom. The two halves of the mol-ecule display approximate non-crystallographic mirror symmetry. The dihedral angle between the two isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one ring systems is 53.18?(6)?Å. Two chiral carbon centres are observed in the compound, but their absolute configurations could not be determined. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into zigzag chains along c. Additional C-H?O inter-actions connect adjacent chains.

The imidazole and the benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 68.08 (04)°. In the crystal, O-H⋯Br, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds link the diimidazolium cations, the bromide anions and the water mol-ecules into a two-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(20)H(24)N(2)O(4)·H(2)O, contains one half-organic mol-ecule (an inversion centre generates the other half of the mol-ecule) and a half-mol-ecule of water (the O atom has site symmetry 2). The near planarity of the fused-benzene ring is illustrated by the very small deviations of all the atoms from the plane [largest deviation = 0.0092 (11) Å. The six-membered N,O-containing ring adopts a half-chair conformation. The observed N-CH(2) and CH(2)-O bond lengths can be correlated to the manifestation of an anomeric effect in the N-CH(2)-O unit. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are connected into zigzag chains parallel to [001] through O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds formed between the oxazinic N atom and the solvent water mol-ecule. The chains are consolidated by C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:In the Schiff base mol-ecule of the title compound, C(22)H(20)N(4)O(2)·C(3)H(7)NO·2H(2)O, the cyclo-hexane ring adopts a chair conformation with the two imine groups linked at the equatorial positions. The two indolin-2-one ring systems make a dihedral angle of 65.63 (5)°. In the crystal, the Schiff base mol-ecules are connected through bifurcated N-H⋯(O,N) hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers. The water molecules link the dimers and the dimethylformamide molecules via O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Together with C-H⋯π and π-π [centroid-centroid distance = 3.3889 (10) Å] inter-actions a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure is formed.

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of dimethyl 3,3'-{[(1<i>E</i>,2<i>E</i>)-ethane-1,2-diyl-idene]bis(aza-nylyl-idene)}bis-(4-methyl-benzoate).

Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C20H20N2O4, synthesized by the condensation reaction of methyl 3-amino-4-methyl-benzoat and glyoxal in ethanol, crystallizes in the the monoclinic space group P21/n. The mol-ecule is Z-shaped with the C-N-C-C torsion angle being 47.58 (18)°. In the crystal, pairs of mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming centrosymetric dimers with an R 2 2(8) ring motif; this connectivity leads to the formation of columns running along the a-axis direction. Hirshfeld surface analysis and two-dimensional fingerprint plots were used to explore the inter-molecular inter-actions and revealed that the most significant contributions to the crystal packing are from H⋯H (49.4%), H⋯O/O⋯H (19.0%) and H⋯C/C⋯H (17.5%) contacts. Energy frameworks were constructed through different inter-molecular inter-action energies to investigate the stability of the compound. The net inter-action energies for the title compound were found to be electrostatic (E ele = -48.4 kJ mol-1), polarization (E pol = -9.7 kJ mol-1), dispersion (E dis = -186.9 kJ mol-1) and repulsion (E rep = 94.9 kJ mol-1) with a total inter-action energy, E tot, of -162.4 kJ mol-1.

Project description:The mononuclear zinc title complex, [Zn(C(20)H(22)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)], was obtained by the reaction of 3-eth-oxy-salicyl-aldehyde, ethane-1,2-diamine, and zinc acetate in methanol. The Zn atom is five-coordinated by two phenolate O and two imine N atoms of the tetradentate Schiff base ligand and by one water O atom, forming a square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, pairs of mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming dimers.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(12)H(14)N(2) (2+)·2C(7)H(5)O(3) (-), the cations and anions are linked via N-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions also occur. ?-? stacking is observed between the nearly parallel benzene and pyridine rings [dihedral angle = 6.03?(8)°], the centroid-centroid separation being 3.7546?(16)?Å. The 4,4'-(ethane-1,2-diyl)dipyridinium cation is centrosymmetric and the mid-point of the ethyl-ene C-C bond is located on an inversion center. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond occurs in the anion.
