ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(15)H(17)NTe, is a heteroleptic Te, N-bidentate ligand having a short Te?N contact [2.8079?(16)?Å] involving a secondary bonding inter-action between the amino N and Te(II) atoms. The Te-C bond [2.136?(2)?Å] trans to the amino group is slightly elongated compared to the other Te-C bond [2.1242?(18)?Å] due to the hypervalent inter-action. The bond angle for the trans N-Te-C atoms [164.92?(6)°] deviates significantly from linearity.

Project description:The title compound, C(10)H(11)NTe, is the first organyl ethynyl telluride, R-Te-C C-H, to be structurally characterized. In the L-shaped mol-ecule, the aryl moiety, viz. Me(2)NC(6)H(4)Te, is almost perpendicular to the Te-C C-H fragment. The Te-Csp(2) bond [2.115 (3) Å] is significantly longer than the Te-Csp bond [2.041 (4) Å]. The Te-C C group is approximately linear [Te-C-C = 178.5 (4)° and C C = 1.161 (5) Å], while the coordination at the Te atom is angular [C-Te-C = 95.92 (14)°]. In the crystal structure, there are Csp-H⋯N hydrogen bonds which are perpendicular to the CNMe(2) group; the N atom displays some degree of pyramidalization. Centrosymmetrically related pairs of mol-ecules are linked by Te⋯π(ar-yl) inter-actions, with Te⋯Cg = 3.683 (4) Å and Csp-Te⋯Cg = 159.1 (2)° (Cg is the centroid of the benzene ring). These inter-actions lead to the formation of zigzag ribbons which run along c and are approximately parallel to (110).

Project description:The title compound, C(9)H(13)Br(2)ClNTe, was synthesized by reacting [2-(dimethyl-amino-meth-yl)phen-yl]tellurium(II) chlor-ide with Br(2). As a consequence, the Cl and Br atoms are not well ordered but distributed over the three possible positions such that the overall stiochiometry is two Br atoms and one Cl atom. The scrambling of the Br and Cl atoms indicates a small energy barrier for the exchange process between the apical and equatorial positions. Overall, the Te atom geometry is slightly distorted square pyramidal (? = 0.052 for the major component). However, there is a weak secondary inter-action between the Te atoms and the disordered Br/Cl atoms of a nearby mol-ecule. The Te-Br and Te-Cl distances in both disorder components fall into two groups; a longer distance for the Br/Cl involved in this secondary inter-action [2.6945?(17)?Å for Br and 2.601?(9)Å for Cl] and shorter bond distances to the remaining halogen atoms, indicating that this inter-action has slightly weakened the Te-X bond, as is the case in the previously reported tribromido structure [Singh et al. (1990). J. Chem. Soc. Dalton Trans. pp. 907-913]. Otherwise, the metrical parameters in the two structures are not significantly different. An intermolecular C-H?Br interaction occurs.

Project description:The title chiral ferrocene compound, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(18)H(25)N(2))], contains one planar and two central chiral centers. It is of inter-est with respect to asymmetric catalysis. The absolute configuration of the planar chirality is Rp at the ferrocene group and those of the two C chiral centers are R at the CH carbon of the ethanamine unit and S at the CH carbon of the phenyl-ethyl-amino substituent. In the ferrocenyl unit, the cyclo-penta-dienyl (Cp) rings are planar, with maximum deviations of 0.002 (2) Å for the substituted and 0.008 (3) Å for the unsubstituted Cp ring. The dihedral angle between the ring planes is 2.12 (15)° and the rings are twisted slightly from an eclipsed conformation by 7.06-7.60°.

Project description:The title compound, C(23)H(32)Cl(2)N(2)O(2), a potential chiral ligand for coordination chemistry, was prepared by a two-step reaction. The mol-ecule is located on a crystallographic centre of inversion. As a result, the methyl group bonded to the methyl-ene group is disordered over two equally occupied positions, sharing the same site as the H atom of the chiral C atom. As a further consequence of the crystallographic centrosymmetry, the 1,2-diamino-propane unit adopts an anti-periplanar conformation and the two benzene rings are coplanar. The central chain is in an all-trans arrangement. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond makes an S(6) ring motif. A C-H?? inter-action links the mol-ecules into one-dimensional chains along the [001] direction.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(9)H(12)ClNTe, contains isolated mol-ecules with no close Te?Cl inter-molecular contacts and has the same composition as a previously published structure [Engman et al. (2004 ?). Phospho-rus Sulfur Silicon Relat. Elem.179, 285-292]. However, in this case, the compound has crystallized in a centrosymmetric space group, unlike the previously published structure which contained enanti-omerically pure chiral mol-ecules. In all other aspects, the metrical parameters are similar. The mol-ecules with a T-shaped coordination environment about the Te atom are linked into dimers by C-H?Cl inter-actions.
