ABSTRACT: In the title crystal structure, C(13)H(9)N(4) (+)·ClO(4) (-)·H(2)O, cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular N-H?O, O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (001). In addition, there are weak ?-? stacking inter-actions between the layers, involving the cations and with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.584?(2)-3.662?(2)?Å, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C12H9N2)2[ZnCl4]·H2O, the two independent 1,10-phenanthrolinium cations are bridged by the water mol-ecule and the tetrahedral tetrachloridozincate anion via N-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [100]. The chains are linked via C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and a number of π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances vary from 3.5594 (14) to 3.7057 (13) Å], forming a three-dimensional network. In each 1,10-phenanthrolinium cation, there is a short N-H⋯N inter-action.

Project description:In the polymeric title compound, [Cd(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(19)H(12)N(4)O)(2)](n), the Cd(II) centre is eight-coordinated within an N(4)O(4) donor set derived from two chelating 4-(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)phenol ligands and two asymmetrically chelating carboxyl-ate residues of bridging fumarate dianions. The linear chains are linked into a layer in the ac plane via O-H?O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds. Layers are connected into double layers via N-H?O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds and these stack along the b axis. C-H?? inter-actions are also present. Disorder in the ethyl-ene portion of the fumarate was modelled over two positions, the major component having a site-occupancy factor of 0.677?(15).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(2)(C(23)H(14)N(4)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O, consists of one half of the dimeric complex, which lies about an inversion centre, and a half-occupancy solvent water mol-ecule on a general position. Each Cd(II) cation is six-coordinated by the two N atoms from one 1-(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)naphthalen-2-ol (L) ligand and three O atoms from two different 1,4-chdc(2-) ligands (1,4-H(2)chdc = cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarb-oxy-lic acid), two coordinating in a bidentate fashion and the other in a monodentate fashion. The distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere is completed by a coordinated water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) atoms are each bridged by two 1,4-chdc(2-) ligands, forming an inversion dimer with the L ligands located on the outside of the dimeric unit. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions stabilize the packing.

Project description:In the title organic salt, C(18)H(14)N(3)O(+)·ClO(4) (-)·CH(4)O, there is a π-π stacking inter-action between neighbouring 1,10-phenanthroline rings and the relevant distances are 3.5453 (18) Å for the centroid-centroid distance and 3.354 Å for the perpendicular distance. There is also a relatively close contact between a C-H bond and a symmetry-related pyridine ring. There are classical N-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and non-classical C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the cation, methanol solvent mol-ecule and perchlorate anion.

Project description:In the structure of the 1:1 proton-transfer compound of 1,10-phenanthroline with 4,5-dichloro-phthalic acid, C(12)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(8)H(3)Cl(2)O(4) (-), determined at 130?K, the 1,10-phenanthrolinium cation and the hydrogen 4,5-dichloro-phthalate anion associate through a single N-H?O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bond giving discrete units which have no extension except through a number of weak cation C-H?O(anion) associations and weak cation-anion aromatic ring ?-? inter-actions [minimum centroid-centroid separation = 3.6815?(12)?Å]. The anions are essentially planar "[maximum deviation 0.214?(1)?Å (a carboxyl O)] with the syn-related H atom of the carboxyl group, forming a short intra-molecular O-H?O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bond.

Project description:In the title compound, C(25)H(15)FN(4)·H(2)O, the fused ring system is essentially planar [maximum deviation of 0.0822 (14) Å]. The imidazole ring makes dihedral angles of 76.83 (7) and 32.22 (7)° with the phenyl group attached to nitro-gen and the fluoro-benzene group to carbon, respectively. The dihedral angle between the two phenyl rings is 72.13 (7)°. Inter-molecular O-H⋯N, O-H⋯F, C-H⋯F, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are found in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the preparation of the title hydrated salt, C14H13N2 (+)·C10H5O8 (-)·H2O, a proton has been transfered to the 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthrolinium cation, forming a 2,4,5-tri-carb-oxy-benzoate anion. In the anion, the mean planes of the protonated carboxyl-ate groups form dihedral angles of 11.0 (5), 4.4 (5) and 80.3 (4)° with the benzene ring to which they are attached. The mean plane of the deprotonated carboxyl-ate group forms a dihedral angle of 10.6 (5)° with the benzene ring. In the crystal, the anions are involved in carb-oxy-lic acid O-H⋯Ocarbox-yl hydrogen bonds, generating a two-dimensional network parallel to (001) containing R 4 (4)(28) and R 4 (4)(32) motifs. The 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthrolinium cations and water mol-ecules reside between the anion layers and are connected to the anions via N-H⋯Owater and Owater-H⋯Ocarbox-yl hydrogen bonds. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is also observed in the anion.
