Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(9)Cl(2)NO(2), was prepared by the esterification of 3,7-dichloro-quinoline-8-carboxylic acid with triethyl phosphite. The crystal structure is stabilized by aromatic π-π stacking between the benzene and the pyridine rings of neighbouring mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distances = 3.716 (2) and 3.642 (2) Å]. In addition, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are present in the structure.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(19)H(17)NO(2), the quinoline ring system is planar [maximum deviation 0.021 (3) Å] and oriented with respect to the phenyl ring at a dihedral angle of 80.44 (4)°. Intra-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions result in the formation of five- and six-membered rings having planar and envelope conformations, respectively. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers forming R(2) (2)(12) ring motifs. π-π contacts between the rings of the quinoline system [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.812 (1) Å] may further stabilize the structure. Two weak C-H⋯π inter-actions are also found.

Project description:In the title compound, C(17)H(13)NO(2), two mol-ecules crystallize in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the quinoline and benzene rings are 78.3?(4) and 88.2?(3)°. The carboxyl-ate group is twisted slightly from the quinoline ring by 7.1?(2) and 13.3?(4)°, respectively. In the crystal, weak C-H?O inter-actions are observed. Further stabilization is provided by weak ?-? stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.564?(9)/3.689?(2) and 3.830?(1)/3.896?(5)Å, respectively.
