ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(18)H(19)N(3)O(2), the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 20.47?(10)° and an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond occurs, generating an S(5) ring. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds lead to R(2) (2)(8) loops.

Project description:In the title compound, C(17)H(16)N(2)O(2)S, the pyrazinone ring is non-planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.1595?Å), with maximum deviations for the 4-position N atom and the adjacent non-fused-ring C atom of 0.2557?(15) and -0.2118?(16)?Å, respectively. The dihedral angle between the benzyl ring and pyrazinone rings is 30.45?(18)°. Inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions forms inversion dimers which lead to eight-membered R(2) (2)(8) ring motifs. The dimers are further connected by C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(18)H(20)O(3), is a furan-oid lignan extracted from the leaves of Larrea tridentata. The relative absolute configuration for the four chiral centers was established, showing that this compound is 4-epi-larreatricin, which has been previously reported in the literature. The mol-ecule displays noncrystallographic C(2) symmetry, with the methyl and phenol substituents alternating above and below the mean plane of the furan ring. The conformation of this ring is described by the pseudorotation phase angle P = 171.3° and the maximum out-of-plane pucker ?(m) = 37.7°. These parameters indicate that the furan ring adopts the same conformation as the ribose residues in B-DNA. The packing is dominated by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The phenol hy-droxy groups form chains in the [110] direction and these chains inter-act via O-H?O(furan) contacts.

In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are inter-connected into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network via inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds. Weak inter-molecular ?-? aromatic stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5251?(5)?Å] further stabilize the crystal packing.

The main conformational difference between these mol-ecules is the orientation of the acetyl groups with respect to the ring. Whereas one acetyl group is only slightly twisted with respect to the thio-phene ring [C-C-C-O torsion angles = 165.7 (4), -164.6 (4), 164.3 (4) and -163.6 (4)°], the other acetyl group is markly twisted out of the ring plane [C-C-C-O torsion angles = -61.2 (6), 61.3 (7), -59.7 (7) and 59.9 (6)°]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions into infinite chains along the c axis.

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(16)ClNO, the dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the conjugated part of the cyclo-hexene ring is 61.7?(2)°. Part of the cyclo-hexene ring and one of the attached methyl groups are disordered over two orientations with occupancies of 0.602?(7) and 0.398?(7). In addition, the crystal studied was a racemic twin [Flack parameter = 0.58?(4)]. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked into chains in the b-axis direction by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds. C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions are also observed.
