ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(26)H(22)N(2)O(2), features a benzene ring fused with a seven-membered diazepine ring; the latter ring adopts a boat conformation (with the propargylallyl-bearing C atom as the prow and the fused-ring C atoms as the stern). The phenyl ring of one of the two benzyl substituents is disordered over two positions in a 0.812?(11):0.188?(11) ratio.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(14)N(2)O(2), comprises two independent mol-ecules, which slightly differ in the orientation of the propargyl chain. In both molecules, the diazepine ring adopts a boat conformation with the propargyl-bearing C atom as the prow and the C atoms at the ring junction as the stern. The carbonyl O atom of one independent mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to the acetyl-enic H atom of the other independent mol-ecule. In the crystal, symmetry-related mol-ecules are linked together by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a ribbon-like structure along the c axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(21)H(21)N(3)O(2), was obtained following a five-step synthetic procedure yielding weakly diffracting rod and needle-shaped crystals which crystallized concomitantly. Structural analysis of a rod-shaped crystal showed that the central seven-membered heterocyclic ring adopts a conformation that is perhaps best described as a distorted boat, with the H-bearing (CH(2) and NH) atoms lying well out of the least-squares mean plane fitted through the other five atoms in the ring (r.m.s. deviation 0.075 Å). In the crystal, the compound packs as a twisted chain, which propagates along the b axis by means of an R(1) (2)(6) motif formed by one of the carbonyl O atoms acting as a bifurcated acceptor in an N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O inter-action. No diffraction was observed from the needle-shaped crystals.

The latter ring adopts a boat conformation (with the methyl-triazolylacetate-bearing C atom as the prow and the fused-ring C atoms as the stern). The benzyl groups connected to the diazepinyl ring jprotrude from the sides; the methyl-triazolylacetate substituent occupies an axial position.
