ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(16)N(2)O(6), contains one-half mol-ecule, the mid-point of the central C-C bond being located on a crystallographic inversion center. The crystal structure shows weak inter-actions between the O atoms of the nitro groups and two different C-H groups of the benzene rings. The extended weak hydrogen-bond formation, involving the NO(2) groups, generates an infinite three-dimensional network.

In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds formed between the hydr-oxy groups lead to a supra-molecular chain along the c axis. Project description:The title compound, C20H22N8O2, was synthesized by the coupling reaction of a sodium tetra-zolate salt and di-bromo-butane in a molar ratio of 2:1. The reaction can produce several possible regioisomers and the title compound was separated as the major product. The X-ray crystallographic study confirmed that the title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/c space group and possesses a bridging butyl-ene group that connects two identical phenyl tetra-zole moieties. The butyl-ene group is attached not to the first but the second nitro-gen atoms of both tetra-zole rings. The dihedral angles between the phenyl groups and the adjacent tetra-zolyl rings are 5.32?(6) and 15.37?(7)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers through C-H?O hydrogen bonds between a C-H group of the butyl-ene linker and the O atom of a meth-oxy group.

Project description:The title compound, C(34)H(28)N(6)O(2), has an inversion centre located at the mid-point of the central C-C bond of the diether bridging unit. The central pyridine rings of the terpyridyl units and the diether chain are co-planar: the maximum deviation from the 18-atom mean plane defined by the bridging unit and the central pyridyl ring is for the pyridyl N atom which sits 0.055 (1) Å above the plane. The dihedral angles between the terminal pyridine rings with this plane are 10.3 (1) and 37.6 (1)°, repectively. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯N inter-actions link the mol-ecules into infinite chains parallel to the a axis.
