ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(11)H(16)O(2)S(5), the two S atoms from the macrocycle are situated on opposite sides of the mean plane of the five-membered ring, deviating from it by 1.288?(3) and 1.728?(3)?Å. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?S and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into layers parallel to (100). The crystal studied was a racemic twin.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(20)O(3)S(5), is bis-ected by a crystallographic twofold rotation axis, which relates the two halves of the mol-ecule to one another: one S, one C and one O atom lie on the axis. The thione S atom lies in the plane of the five-membered rings with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0042?(5)?Å. Parts of the 17-membered macrocycle were refined using a two-part disorder model [occupancies of 0.553?(14) and 0.447?(14)]. There are no noteworthy inter-molecular inter-actions.

Project description:The title natural compound, isolated from Narcissus pseudonarcissus var. King Alfred crystallizes as a hemihydrate, C14H13NO7·0.5H2O, with four crystallographically independent dioxolophenanthridinone mol-ecules and two crystallographically independent solvent water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. All four crystallographically independent dioxolophenanthridinone mol-ecules are geometrically very similar and differ only in the orientations of the three hy-droxy groups at the terminal cyclo-hexene rings. The five-membered dioxolane ring has a planar conformation (the r.m.s. deviations are 0.010, 0.019, 0.025 and 0.004?Å, for the four crystallographically independent molecules), and the six-membered dihydro-pyridone and cyclo-hexene rings adopt sofa conformations in each mol-ecule. The flattened structure of each dioxolophenanthridinone mol-ecule is supported by a strong intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond. The N atom has a slightly pyramidalized configuration. In the crystal, the dioxolophenanthridinone mol-ecules form layers parallel to (101) with O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds linking the dioxolophenanthridinone mol-ecules both within and between the layers and the water mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional framework. The absolute configurations of the chiral centers are 2S, 3R, 4S and 4aR.

The seven-membered ring adopts a chair conformation. The crystal packing is stabilized by S?O [3.096?(4)?Å] and S?S [3.620?(4)?Å] contacts, together with C-H?S inter-actions.
