Poly[hemi-?-aqua-[?-2-(2-bromobenzenesulfonamido)benzoato]sodium(I)].

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Na(C(13)H(9)BrNO(4)S)(H(2)O)(0.5)](n), contains two Na(+) cations, two substituted benzoate anions and one water molecule of crystallization. The Na(+) cations are coordinated in an octa-hedral geometry by two carboxyl-ate O atoms, two sulfonyl O atoms and two water O atoms. The latter two ligands occupy trans positions. The polymeric network structure of the title complex is characterized by a layered assembly parallel to (001) and is further consolidated by N-H?O, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, [Co(C(7)H(4)IO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), contains one Co(II) cation, two iodo-benzoate anions and two water mol-ecules. One iodo-benzoate anion and one water mol-ecule bridge adjacent Co cations, forming a polymeric chain running along the a axis, while the other iodo-benzoate anion and water mol-ecule coordinate in a monodentate manner to the Co(II) cation, completing the slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the two independent anionic ligands, the carboxyl-ate groups are twisted away from the attached benzene rings by 51.38?(18) and 39.89?(11)°, and the two benzene rings are nearly perpendicular to each other with a dihedral angle of 86.09?(10)°. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between coordinating water mol-ecules and adjacent carboxyl-ate O atoms help to stabilize the mol-ecular structure. In the crystal, weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the polymeric chains into a three-dimentional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The reaction of lead(II) nitrate and benzoic acid in aqueous solution yields the title polymer, [Pb(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)](n). The asymmetric unit contains one Pb(II) ion, two benzoate ligands and one water mol-ecule. The Pb-O bond distances are in the range 2.494 (4)-2.735 (4) Å. The Pb⋯Pb distance is 4.0683 (4) Å, indicating an insignificant metal-metal inter-action. The Pb(II) atom has a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry chelated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms. The Pb atoms are bridged through a coordinating water mol-ecule and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from another two benzoate ligands, giving an infinite three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involved the coordinating water and carboxyl-ate O atoms enhance the stability of the supra-molecular arrangement.

Project description:In the structure of the title salt, [Rb2(C7H5N2O4)2(H2O)2] n , the asymmetric unit comprises two independent and different seven-coordinate Rb(+) cations, one forming an RbO7 polyhedron, the other a RbO6N polyhedron, each of which is considerably distorted. The RbO7 polyhedron comprises bridging O-atom donors from two water mol-ecules, three carboxyl-ate groups, and two nitro groups. In the crystal, the benzoate anions and water mol-ecule inter-act by way of inter- and intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.
