Poly[di-?(2)-acetato-diaquabis(2,2'-bi-pyridine)bis(?(3)-5-nitroisophthalato)tricobalt(II)].

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Co(3)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The structure features a centrosymmetric complex with three Co(II) centres, one of which is located on a centre of inversion. The Co centres are coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The bipyridine ligands are bonded to just one Co centre in a chelating mode, whereas the 5-nitro-isophthalate and acetate ions are bonded to two different Co atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title monomeric manganese(II) complex, [Mn(CH3COO)2(C10H8N2)(H2O)2], the metal ion is coordinated by a bidentate 2,2'-bi-pyridine (bpy) ligand, two water mol-ecules and two axial acetate anions, resulting in a highly distorted octa-hedral environment. The aqua ligands are stabilized by the formation of strong intra-molecular hydrogen bonds with the uncoordinated acetate O atoms, giving rise to pseudo-bridging arrangement of the terminal acetate groups. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form [010] zigzag chains via O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the aqua ligands and acetate O atoms. Further, the water and bpy ligands are trans to each other, and are arranged in an off-set fashion showing inter-molecular ?-? stacking between nearly parallel bi-py rings, the centroid-centroid separations being 3.8147?(12) and 3.9305?(13)?Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the polymeric title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)] n , the Mn(II) cations are coordinated by one chelating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand and four thio-cyanate anions (two N- and two S-coordinating), forming a distorted [MnN4S2] octa-hedron. The asymmetric unit consists of one manganese cation located on a twofold rotation axis and half of a 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand, the other half being generated by the same twofold rotation axis, as well as one thio-cyanate anion in a general position. The Mn(II) cations are linked by two pairs of ?1,3-bridging thio-cyanate ligands into chains along the c axis; because the N atoms of the 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands, as well as the N and the S atoms of the thio-cyanate anions, are each cis-coordinating, these chains show a zigzag arrangement.

The bridging function of the iodide ions leads to a chain structure propagating in [001].

Project description:In the crystal structure of the mononuclear title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2]·C10H8N2, the Mn(II) cation is coordin-ated in an all-cis configuration by two N-bound thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands within a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. The asymmetric unit consists of one Mn(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands, as well as two non-coordinating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands that are each located on centres of inversion. In the crystal structure, the discrete [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2] complex mol-ecules are arranged in such a way that cavities are formed, in which the solvent 2,2'-bi-pyridine mol-ecules are located. Apart from van der Waals forces, there are no remarkable inter-molecular inter-actions present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title binuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu2(ClO4)2(OH)2(C10H8N2)2], the Cu(II) ion is coordinated in the form of a Jahn-Teller distorted octahedron by two bi-pyridine N atoms, two perchlorate O atoms and two hydroxide O atoms, and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The mol-ecule belongs to the symmetry point group C 2h . The Cu(II) ion is located on a twofold rotation axis and the hydroxide and perchlorate ligands are located on a mirror plane. Within the dinuclear mol-ecule, the Cu?Cu separation is 2.8614?(7)?Å. The crystal structure exhibits O-H?O, C-H?O and ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5374?(13)?Å] inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [HgI2(C10H8N2O2S2)] n , a one-dimensional coordination polymer with HgI2 units and 2,2'-di-thio-bis-(pyridine N-oxide) spacer ligands in an alternating fashion, forms helical chains running along the b axis in the crystal. Within a single coordination polymer strand, the axially chiral 2,2'-di-thio-bis-(pyridine N-oxide) ligands are homochiral, but the enanti-omeric conformation is present in adjacent strands. Within a coordination polymer strand, the iodido ligands point towards the centroids of the aromatic rings of the pyridine N-oxide moieties in the coordination sphere of HgII. Moreover, intra-strand C-H⋯O and C-H⋯I inter-actions, and inter-strand short S⋯I and S⋯O contacts are observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PdCl2(C10H8N2)]·0.5C4H8O2, consists of one Pd(II) complex mol-ecule and a half-mol-ecule of 1,4-dioxane, the complete mol-ecule being generated by inversion symmetry. The Pd(II) atom has an almost square-planar coordination formed by the 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand and two chloride ligands. Two intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds occur. In the crystal, the Pd(II) complex and 1,4-dioxane mol-ecules are connected by C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a layer parallel to (10-1). Within the layer, weak ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.817?(4)?Å] are observed between the pyridine rings.

Project description:The trinuclear title compound, [Co(3)(CH(3)COO)(4)(C(20)H(22)N(2)O(6))(2)]·2CH(2)Cl(2), contains mixed-valence cobalt ions in the following order Co(III)-Co(II)-Co(III) where all the three cobalt ions are hexa-coordinated. The central cobalt ion is situated on an inversion centre and is in an all-oxygen environment, coordinated by four phenolate O atoms and two O atoms from bridging acetate groups, while the terminal cobalt ion is hexa-coordinated by two phenolate O atoms, two acetate O atoms and two imine N atoms. This complex contains a high-spin central Co(II) and two terminal low-spin Co(III)i.e. Co(III)(S = 0)-Co(II)(S = 3/2)-Co(III)(S = 0). There are weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions involving the meth-oxy groups, as well as inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions involving the acetate anions. In addition, the dichoromethane solvate mol-ecules are held in place by weak C-H?Cl inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [CuK(2)(C(3)N(2)O(3))(2)(H(2)O)(3)](n), the Cu(2+) atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. Two N atoms belonging to the oxime groups and two O atoms belonging to the carboxyl-ate groups of two trans-disposed doubly deprotonated residues of 2-cyano-2-(hy-droxy-imino)-acetic acid make up the basal plane and the apical position is occupied by the water mol-ecule. The neighboring Cu-containing moieties are linked into a three-dimensional framework by K-O and K-N contacts formed by two potassium cations with the carboxyl-ate and the oxime O atoms and the nitrile N atoms of the ligand. The environments of the K(+) cations are complemented to octa- and nona-coordinated, by K-O contacts with H(2)O mol-ecules. The crystal structure features O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Ru(C10H8N2)2(C16H12N4O)](BF4)2·3CH2Cl2, crystallizes with one complex dication, two BF4 (-) counter-anions and three di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The central Ru(II) atom adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere with two 2,2'-bi-pyridine (bpy) and one quinoline-2-carbaldehyde (pyridine-2-carbon-yl)hydrazone (HL) ligand. The hydrazone ligand has a Z form and coordinates to the Ru(II) atom via the amide-O and imine-N atoms, affording a planar five-membered chelate ring, while its pyridine-N and quinoline-N donor atoms in the substituents are non-coordinating. The hydrazone N-H group forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond with the quinoline-N atom. In the crystal, the quinoline moiety of HL shows the shortest ?-? stacking inter-action with the pyridine substituent of HL in a neighbouring complex, the centroid-to-centroid distance being 3.793?(3)?Å.
