Redetermination of di-?-hydrido-hexa-hydridotetra-kis(tetra-hydro-furan)dialuminium(III)magnesium(II).

ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound, [Mg(AlH(4))(2)(C(4)H(8)O)(4)], has been redetermined at 150?K. The Mg(II) ion is hexa-coordinated to four tetra-hydro-furan (THF) ligands, and two AlH(4) (-) anions through bridging H atoms. The Al-H distances are more precise compared to those previously determined [Nöth et al. (1995 ?). Chem. Ber. 128, 999-1006; Fichtner & Fuhr (2002 ?). J. Alloys Compd, 345, 386-396]. The mol-ecule has twofold rotation symmetry.

The structure of the title compound, [Mg(AlH(4))(2)(C(4)H(8)O)(4)], has been redetermined at 150 K. Project description:The title compound, [Na(μ-C6F5BH3)(C4H8O)2]2, represents a dimeric structure of sodium and organoborohydride, located about a centre of inversion. The Na⋯B distances of 2.7845 (19) and 2.7494 (18) Å were apparently longer than the Li⋯B distances (2.403-2.537 Å) of the lithium organotri-hydro-borates in the previous reports. Moreover, an inter-action between the sodium atom and one fluorine atom on the 2-position of the benzene ring is observed [Na-F = 2.6373 (12) Å]. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules are stacked along the b-axis via a π-π inter-action between the benzene rings.

Redetermination of diaqua-tetra-kis-(dimethyl-formamide-?O)magnesium dichloride.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Mg(C(3)H(7)NO)(4)(H(2)O)(2)]Cl(2), in which the Mg ion lies on a crystallographic inversion centre, confirms that of the previous room-temperature study [Pavanello et al. (1995 ?). Main Group Met. Chem.18, 9-19]. This redetermination at 113?K has improved geometry precision by almost an order of magnitude [e.g. Mg-O(w) (w = water) distances = 2.094?(4) and 2.0899?(7)?Å in the old and new structures, respectively] and allowed the water H atoms to be located and their positions refined. In the crystal, O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between the two aqua ligands of the complex mol-ecule and neighboring chloride counter-anions generate supra-molecular chains propagating along [010]. The dicationic [Mg(DMF)(4)(H(2)O)(2)] unit (DMF is dimethyl-formamide) adopts a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry in which the Mg atom is coordinated by four DMF O atoms in a pseudo-tetra-gonal arrangement and two trans aqua ligands.

Project description:Structural characterization of the ionic title complex, [MgBr(THF)5][Co(dpbz)2]·2THF [THF is tetra-hydro-furan, C4H8O; dpbz is 1,2-bis-(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)benzene, C30H24P2], revealed a well-separated cation and anion co-crystallized with two THF solvent mol-ecules that inter-act with the cation via weak C-H?O contacts. The geometry about the cobalt center is pseudo-tetra-hedral, as is expected for a d 10 metal center, only deviating from an ideal tetra-hedral geometry because of the restrictive bite angles of the bidentate phosphane ligands. Three THF ligands of the cation and one co-crystallized THF solvent mol-ecule are each disordered over two orientations. In the extended structure, the cations and THF solvent mol-ecules are arranged in (100) sheets that alternate with layers of anions, the latter of which show various ?-inter-actions, which may explain the particular packing arrangement.

The C-Al-C angles range from 113.25 (7) to 116.27 (8)°, much larger than the O-Al-C angles, which range from 103.39 (7) to 103.90 (6)°. The tetra-hydro-furan ring adopts an envelope conformation. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The synthesis, crystal structure, and FT-IR data for the title compound, [Na2Mn4(C2H2ClO2)2(C7H4NO3)4(C3H7NO)6]·2C3H7NO or Na2(O2CCH2Cl)2[12-MCMn(III) N(shi)-4](DMF)6·2DMF, where MC is metallacrown, shi(3-) is salicyl-hydroximate, and DMF is N,N-di-methyl-formamide, is reported. The macrocyclic metallacrown consists of an -[Mn(III)-N-O]4- ring repeat unit and the metallacrown captures two Na(+) ions in the central cavity above and below the plane of the metallacrown. Each Na(+) ion is seven-coordinate and is bridged to two ring Mn(III) ions, through either a coordinating DMF mol-ecule or a chloro-acetate anion. The ring Mn(III) ions have either a tetra-gonally distorted octa-hedral geometry or a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Weak C-H⋯O inter-actions, in addition to pure van der Waals forces, contribute to the overall packing of the mol-ecules. The complete molecule has inversion symmetry and is disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.8783 (7):0.1217 (7). The solvent molecule is also disordered over two sets of sites, with an occupancy ratio of 0.615 (5):0.385 (5).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title ionic compound (C(7)H(6)NS)[AuCl(4)]·C(4)H(8)O, the [AuCl(4)](-) anion shows a typical square-planar geometry. Numerous weak C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between [AuCl(4)](-) and the 1,3-benzothia-zolium units form layers comprised of 24-membered rings in which hydrogen-bonded tetra-hydro-furan (THF) solvent mol-ecules are accommodated. C-H?Cl inter-actions between THF and [AuCl(4)](-) from adjacent layers result in bilayers. These are further stabilized by ?-? inter-actions between the thia-zole and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.971?(3)?Å], resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular assembly.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mo(2)(C(7)F(5)O(2))(4)(C(4)H(8)O)(2)], two independent half-mol-ecules are present, which are completed by a crystallographically imposed center of inversion between the individual Mo atoms. In each mol-ecule, four penta-fluoro-benzoate anions bridge the quadruply bonded Mo(2) (4+) unit that is, in addition, axially coordinated by two O atoms of tetra-hydro-furan (THF) mol-ecules. In the two independent mol-ecules, the mean Mo-Mo bond length is 2.110 Å. Since the THF mol-ecules are equally disordered over two sets of sites, there are four different Mo-O distances in both half-mol-ecules with an overall mean of 2.542 Å. A zigzag chain is formed by π-π stacking inter-actions between penta-fluoro-phenyl rings, indicated by a centroid-centroid distance of 3.7054 (11) Å and a centroid-to-plane distance of 3.4169 (3) Å. The extension of the unit gives a three-dimensional network structure with the THF mol-ecules located in the voids.

Project description:In the mononuclear title compound, [MoCl(3)(C(4)H(8)O)(C(14)H(15)P)(2)], obtained by the reaction of trichloro-tris-(tetra-hydro-furan)-molybdenum(III) and ethyl-diphenyl-phosphine in tetra-hydro-furan (THF) solution, the Mo(III) atom is six-coordinated by one O atom of a THF mol-ecule, two P atoms from two ethyl-diphenyl-phosphine ligands and three Cl atoms in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The C atoms of the THF molecule are disordered over two positions in a 0.55?(2):0.45?(2) ratio.

Project description:In the oxido-centered title compound, [Fe(2)Mn(C(2)HCl(2)O(2))(6)O(C(4)H(8)O)(H(2)O)(2)], the central O atom is linked to three metal atoms, which are themselves each linked to four dichloro-acetate anions, and is in a triangular configuration. Two of the metal atoms are each coordinated by a water mol-ecule, whereas the third is coordinated by a tetra-hydro-furan mol-ecule. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds across centers of inversion, generating a hydrogen-bonded chain along the c axis. The Mn(II) atoms are disordered with respect to the Fe(III) atoms, and the same metal site is occupied by 1/3Mn + 2/3Fe.
