ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(16)H(14)OS, the dihedral angle between the benzothio-phene ring system and the benzene ring is 72.41?(12)°. A weak inter-molecular C-H?? inter-action from the benzene ring to the benzothio-phene ring system is observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C23H16OS, contains two independent mol-ecules with opposite orientations of the meth-oxy groups bonded to the benzene rings. The napthobenzothiophene group in the two molecules is separated by an average distance of 3.912 Å. In both mol-ecules, the napthobenzothio-phene unit is almost planar, with r.m.s deviations of 0.0522 and 0.0143 Å. The meth-oxy-phenyl ring makes dihedral angles of 67.0 (6)° and 70.4 (6)° with respect to the napthobenzothio-phene ring system in the two mol-ecules. The crystal packing features C-H⋯S, π-π [centroid-centroid distances = 3.666 (10) and 3.658 (10) Å] and C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a sheet running along the b-axis direction.

Project description:The title compound, C(25)H(22)O(5), was obtained by a dehydrogenative carbonyl-ation reaction. It crystallizes with one half-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The mol-ecules have crystallographic C(2) symmetry and the two atoms of the carbonyl group are located on the rotation axis. The meth-oxy groups are coplanar with the benzene ring to which they are attached [C-C-O-C = 1.0?(6)°]. The two furan rings are inclined at 17.3?(3)° with respect to each other and the dihedral angle between the furan ring and the benzene ring is 75.83?(12)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:A novel N-heterocyclic carbene derivative, C(28)H(33)N(2)O(3) (+)·Br(-)·H(2)O, was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, (1)H and (13)C-NMR and IR spectroscopy and a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. Ions of the title compound are linked by ??? stacking inter-actions (face-face separation 3.441?Å) and C-H?Br and O-H?Br inter-actions. Intra- and intermolecular C-H?O inter-actions are also present. The C-N bond lengths for the compound [1.329?(3), 1.325?(3), 1.389?(3) and 1.391?(3)?Å] are all shorter than the average single C-N bond length of 1.48?Å, thus showing varying degrees of double-bond character.

Project description:In the mol-ecular structure of the title compound, C(15)H(15)NO(3), the two benzene rings are twisted with respect to each other, making a dihedral angle of 75.11?(10)°. In the amide fragment, the C=O and C-N bond distances are 1.248?(3) and 1.321?(3)?Å, respectively, indicating electron delocalization. A partially ovelapped arrangement between parallel hydroxy-methoxy-benzene rings is observed in the crystal structure, and the face-to-face distance of 3.531?(16)?Å suggests the existence of weak ?-? stacking. N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonding is also present in the crystal structure.
