ABSTRACT: The title compound, (C(21)H(33)N(2)O)(2)[SmCl(5)(C(4)H(8)O)]·C(7)H(8)·C(4)H(8)O, has a layered structure in which each distorted octa-hedral [SmCl(5)(THF)](2-) unit (THF is tetra-hydro-furan) is capped by two cations. The central metal Sm(III) atom of the [SmCl(5)(THF)](2-) anionic unit is coordinated by five Cl atoms and one THF O atom, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The crystal structure displays C-H?Cl and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonding. The structure exhibits disorder of the solvent.

Project description:In the title compound, C(25)H(35)N(2) (+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, the imidazolidine ring adopts a twisted conformation, with a pseudo-twofold axis passing through the N-C-N carbon and the opposite C-C bond. The N-C-N fragment of the imidazolidine ring shows some degree of both double- and single-bond character due to partial electron delocalization. One of the tert-butyl groups is disordered over two conformations with occupancies of 0.714?(8) and 0.286?(8). In the crystal, O-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen bonds help to establish the packing.

The two imidazole rings are twisted away from but to the same side of the central toluene ring, making dihedral angles of 76.69?(7) and 78.03?(7)° with the central ring. In the crystal, the components are linked by C-H?F interactions, generating a three-dimensional network.

In the mol-ecule, both piperidine rings adopt chair conformations. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds occur.

Project description:The title compound, C62H76O5, known to be one of the most versatile synthetic precursors/inter-mediates of calix[5]arene derivatives, adopts an approximate Cs -symmetric cone-in conformation. The aryl-oxybenzyl ring is tilted in such a way that the p-tert-butyl group fills the macrocycle cavity, while the benzyl group moves away from the cavity axis. In the crystal, this conformational arrangement is secured by intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds forming inversion dimers. Four tert-butyl groups are disordered over two orientations, with occupancy ratios of 0.745?(6):0.255?(6), 0.837?(5):0.163?(5), 0.850?(5):0.150?(5) and 0.845?(8):0.155?(8).

Project description:The title salt, C(8)H(20)N(+)·C(22)H(27)O(3)S(-), is a proton-transfer compound derived from the recently reported parent carb-oxy-lic acid [Alhadi et al. (2010). Acta Cryst. E66, o1787] by the addition of a second equivalent of di-n-butyl-amine, yielding the di-n-butyl-ammonium carboxyl-ate salt. The structure of the carboxyl-ate anion resembles that of the parent carb-oxy-lic acid. The main difference lies in the position of the H atom in the 4-hy-droxy group. In the anion the O-H bond is perpendicular, rather than parallel, to the benzyl ring. This position appears to facilitate hydrogen bonding to an O atom of the carboxyl-ate group of a symmetry-related anion. In addition, there are three N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In contrast, the neutral species hydrogen bonds via a carboxylic acid dimer. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings in the anion is 79.19 (7)°.

In the crystal, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked via O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the phenol OH group and the carbonyl O atom, forming chains propagating in [101]. Within these chains, rings are formed with an R(2) (2)(20) motif. There are also C-H?O inter-actions present within the rings.

The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the fluorenyl ring systems and the Cp ring are 36.62?(6)° for the ?(1)-coordinated fluorenyl and 52.85?(6)° for the ?(5)-coordinated fluorenyl, while the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two fluorenyl ring systems is 76.18?(7)°.
