ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(20)H(25)N(3)O(2), is a new amonafide analogue, which exhibits anti-tumor activity. The asymmetric unit contains two mol-ecules with similar conformations for the substituted aliphatic chains. The two independent mol-ecules form dmers through N-H?N hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is stabilized via ?-? stacking inter-actions, the shortest centroid-centroid separation between six-membered rings being 3.673?(2)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, C(16)H(13)NO(2), the 2,3-dimethyl-phenyl group and the 1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione group are essentially planar, with r.m.s. deviations of 0.006 and 0.013 Å, respectively, and are oriented at an angle of 78.19 (3)° with respect to each other. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O inter-actions link the mol-ecules, forming a zigzag chain parallel to the b axis. Futhermore, C-H⋯π inter-actions are present between the C-H group of isoindole and the 2,3-dimethyl-phenyl benzene ring. The H atoms of the ortho-methyl group are statistically disordered over two positions. Such disorder might be related to the antagonism between intra-molecular steric repulsions and inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:Uracil, the pyrimidine nucleobase, which combined with adenine forms one of the major motifs present in the biopolymer RNA, is also involved in the self-assembly of RNA. In the title compound, C(9)H(14)N(4)O(2)·2H(2)O, the asymmetric unit contains one dimethyl-amino-uracil group and two water mol-ecules. The plane of the N=C-NMe(2) side chain is inclined at 27.6?(5)° to the plane of the uracil ring. Both water mol-ecules form O-H?O hydrogen bonds with the carbonyl O atoms of the uracil group. Additional water-water hydrogen-bond inter-actions are also observed in the crystal structure. The O-H?O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network cage consisting of two dimethyl-amino-uracil groups and six water mol-ecules.
