ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)][W(CN)(8)], the Co atom (..2 site symmetry) is coordinated by six N atoms from three 2,2'-bipyridine ligands in an octa-hedral geometry; the Co-N bond distances range from 1.926?(2) to 1.939?(2)?Å. The W (..2 site symmetry) metal center is coordinated by eight cyanide ligands, resulting in a dodeca-hedral conformation with W-C distances in the range 1.165?(3)-2.176?(3)?Å. The cations and anions are linked into a three-demensional structure by weak C-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)]Cl(3)·4H(2)O, contains discrete [Co(bpy)(3)](3+) cations (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine), Cl(-) anions and water mol-ecules. The [Co(bpy)(3)](3+) complex cation exhibits C(2) symmetry with the twofold axis through the central Co atom and bis-ecting one bpy ligand and one of the Cl(-) anions. The four solvent water mol-ecules and the remaining two Cl(-) anions lie on a mirror plane. Hydrogen-bond inter-actions define a two-dimensional layer structure parallel to (100), which consists of seven-membered [Cl(2)(H(2)O)(5)], eight-membered [Cl(4)(H(2)O)(4)] and ten-membered [Cl(2)(H(2)O)(8)] rings.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)][Fe(C(2)O(4))(3)]·H(2)O, con-sists of two discrete tris-(chelate) metal ions (Co(III)N(6) and Fe(III)O(6) chromophores) and a water mol-ecule. The structure is highly symmetrical; the Co(III) and Fe(III) ions occupy positions with site symmetry 3.2. The coordination polyhedra of the metal atoms have a nearly octa-hedral geometry with noticeable trigonal distortions. The Co-N and Fe-O bond lengths are equal by symmetry, viz. 1.981?(2) and 1.998?(4)?Å, respectively. The cations and anions are arranged alternately along their threefold rotation axes parallel to [001], forming chains that are packed in a hexa-gonal manner. The water mol-ecules occupy voids between the chains. The crystal under investigation was an inversion twin.

Project description:The title complex [Cu(C10H8N2)3][Fe(CN)5(NO)]·2CH3OH·H2O, consists of discrete [Cu(bpy)3](2+) cations (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine), [Fe(CN)5NO](2-) anions and solvent mol-ecules of crystallization (two methanol mol-ecules and one water mol-ecules per asymmetric unit). The Cu(II) ion adopts a distorted octa-hedral environment, coordinated by six N atoms from three bpy ligands. The cation charge is balanced by a nitro-prusside counter-anion, which has a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, anions and solvent mol-ecules are involved in O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which form chains along [100]. The cations are located between these chains.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title mixed-ligand coordination polymer, [Nd(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Nd(III) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment formed by one water mol-ecule, one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, and five monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The local coordination polyhedron around the Nd(III) ion is a bicapped trigonal prism. Two Nd(III) centers are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups to form an Nd(2) dimeric unit; these are further connected by 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate linkers, resulting in a layered coordination network.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of Cu(acetate)(2) and K(3)[Fe(CN)(6)] with 5-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine (5-ph-2,2'-bpy) in water yields the polymeric title complex, [Cu(5)(CN)(5)(C(16)H(12)N(2))(3)](n), which consists of ribbons along the a axis, constructed from 26-membered {Cu(10)(CN)(8)} rings. In these rings, the metal atoms are bridged by cyanide groups, except for one close Cu?Cu contact [2.7535?(12)?Å], which can be considered as ligand-unsupported. Within the rings, one Cu atom has a distorted tetra-hedral geometry through the coordination to two N atoms from 5-ph-2,2'-bpy and two N/C atoms from two cyanide groups. Two Cu atoms have a trigonal planar environment being coordinated by three cyanide groups and two other Cu atoms have a distorted square planar geometry through coordination to two N atoms from 5-ph-2,2'-bpy and two N/C atoms from two cyanide groups.

Project description:The title complex, {[Fe(II)Y(III)(CN)(4)(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(CH(3)OH)(3)]·CH(3)OH·0.5H(2)O}(n), is built up of ladder-like chains oriented along the c axis. Each ladder consists of two strands based on alternating Fe(II) and Y(III) ions connected by cyanide bridges. Two such parallel chains are connected by additional cyanide anions (the 'rungs' of the ladder), which likewise connect Fe(II) and Y(III) ions, such that each [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](2-) (bipy is 2,2'-bipyridine) unit coordinates with three Y(III) ions and each Y(III) ion connects with three different [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](2-) units. The Fe(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry and the Y(III) atom cation is eight-coordinated in a distorted dodeca-hedral environment. The uncoordinated methanol solvent mol-ecules are involved in hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with the one terminal cyanide group and a coordinated methanol mol-ecule from another [Y(III)(NO(3))(CH(3)OH)(3)](2+) unit. Adjacent ladder-like chains are also held together by hydrogen bonds between the terminal cyanide ligands of the [Fe(CN)(4)(bipy)](2-) units in one chain and the OH donors of CH(3)OH ligands from [Y(III)(NO(3))(CH(3)OH)(3)] units in neighboring chains. The water molecule exhibits half-occupation.
