Potassium (2,2'-bipyridine-?N,N')bis-(carbonato-?O,O')cobaltate(III) dihydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, K[Co(CO(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·2H(2)O, the Co(III) atom is coordinated by two bipyridine N atoms and four O atoms from two bidentate chelating carbonate anions, and thus adopts a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment. The [Co(bipy)(CO(3))(2)](-) (bipy is 2,2'-bipyridine) -units are stacked along [100] via ?-? stacking inter-actions, with inter-planar distances between the bipyridine rings of 3.36?(4) and 3.44?(6)?Å, forming chains. Classical O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the chains, forming channels along (100) in which the K(+) ions reside and leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:The title mixed aqua-fluoride complex, [CrF(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)](ClO(4))(2)·2H(2)O, has been synthesized by aqua-tion of the corresponding difluoride complex using lanthan-ide(III) ions as F(-) acceptors. The complex crystallizes with a Cr(III) ion at the center of a distorted octa-hedral coordination polyhedron with a cis arrangement of ligands. The crystal packing shows a hydrogen-bonding pattern involving water mol-ecules, the coordinated F atom and the perchlorate anions.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Co(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the two Co(II) cations are bridged by pairs of pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions across an inversion center. Besides two pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine and one water mol-ecule coordinate to the Co cation, completing a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. Within the dinuclear mol-ecule, π-π stacking occurs between parallel pyridine rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.802 (2) Å. The crystal structure contains extensive O-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the five-coordinated Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal CuN(4)O environment; the O atom is in the axial position whereas the N atoms from two bipyridine (bipy) ligands are in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. The nitrite anion is equally disordered over two sets of sites.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(5)O(5))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], lies across a crystallographic twofold axis, around which two 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy) ligands are arranged in a propeller manner. The local geometry of the NiN(4)O(2) coordination core basically adopts an octa-hedral geometry. The mol-ecular twofold axis is along the direction of the mol-ecular dipole moment, and the complex is packed with its dipole moment alternately along the +b and -b directions. Project description:In the title compound, [Co(CO(3))(C(10)H(9)N(3))(2)]Br, a distorted octa-hedral coordination of the Co(III) atom is completed by four N atoms of the two chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine ligands and two O atoms of the chelating carbonate anion. The di-2-pyridyl-amine ligands are nonplanar and the dihedral angles between the 2-pyridyl groups are 29.11 (9) and 37.15 (12)°. The coordination cation, which has approximate C(2) symmetry, is connected to the bromide ion via an N-H⋯Br(-) hydrogen bond. The ionic pair thus formed is further assembled into a dimer via N-H⋯O inter-actions about an inversion centre. A set of weaker C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Br(-) inter-actions connect the dimers into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·7.34H(2)O, was obtained by crystallization from an aqueous ethano-lic reaction mixture containing nickel(II) acetate, maleic acid, bipyridine, sodium hydroxide and ammonia. The asymmetric unit contains one independent complex mol-ecule and 7.34 water mol-ecules occupying eight crystallographically independent positions. Two of these water molecules are disordered. The nickel(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two O atoms from one carboxyl-ate group of the maleato ligand and by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands. The water mol-ecules, along with the O atoms of the uncoordinated carboxyl-ate group, form an extended hydro-philic three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded system with large cavities in which the hydro-phobic bipy ligands are located. One H atom of the maleate ligand is involved in a weak hydrogen bond of the C-H⋯O type. Stacking inter-actions between the pyridyl rings of the bipy ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.549 (15) Å] lead to the formation of pairs of complex mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(9)H(7)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], was synthesized under mild hydro-thermal conditions. The structure of the complex mol-ecule consists of four approximately planar fragments: two 3-(3-hy-droxyphenyl)propenoate residues and two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands [largest deviation from the least-squares planes is 0.240 (1) Å for one of 3-(3-hy-droxy-phenyl)propenoate residues]. The dihedral angles formed by the least-squares planes of the 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and the opposite 3-(3-hy-droxyphenyl)propenoate residues are 22.68 (7) and 26.47 (6)°. The CdN(4)O(4) coordination polyhedron can be described as distorted dodecahedral. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between carboxyl-ate O atoms and hy-droxy groups lead to the formation of chains along the a-axis direction.
