ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(17)H(24)O(2), is the product of a haloform reaction of 6-acetyl-1,1,2,4,4,7-hexa-methyl-tetra-line (AHTN). The compound is a racemic mixture with a disorder in its aliphatic ring [occupany ratio 0.683 (4):0.317 (4)] due to two possible half-chair forms. The carb-oxy-lic acid unit is slightly twisted out of coplanarity with the aromatic system [dihedral angle = 29.26 (6)°]. In the crystal, pairs of short classical inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link pairs of mol-ecules around a center of symmetry.

Project description:The title compound (AHTN-OH), C(17)H(26)O, was prepared in order to provide standard materials for the qualitative and quanti-tative analysis of environmental pollutants. The mol-ecule possesses a chiral C atom, although the structure determination was performed on racemic material, expressed in the structure as disordered chiral sites. The asymmetric unit consists of four AHTN-OH mol-ecules containing an hy-droxy group and forming a tetra-meric cyclic motif built up by four strong hydrogen bonds between these hy-droxy groups and additionally by two weak C-H⋯π inter-actions. Furthermore, these tetra-mers are linked via very weak C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming chains along the c axis.

Project description:Crystals of the title compound, C(18)H(26)O(2), were grown from ethyl acetate. Due to the racemic precursor, the title compound is also obtained as a racemate. Disorder was observed during structure refinement, originating from two possible half-chair conformations of the non-aromatic ring. The disorder was refined by introducing split positions in the cyclo-hexane ring regarding the two possible R and S-enantiomers at the chiral CH group [ratio 0.744 (3):0.256 (3)]. The crystal structure features pairs of inversion-related molecules connected by pairs of non-classical C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The reaction between a racemic mixture of (R,S)-fixolide and 4-methyl-thio-semicarbazide in ethanol with a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio and catalysed with HCl, yielded the title compound, C20H31N3S [common name: (R,S)-fixolide 4-methyl-thio-semicarbazone]. There is one crystallographically independent mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit, which is disordered over the aliphatic ring [site-occupancy ratio = 0.667 (13):0.333 (13)]. The disorder includes the chiral C atom, the neighbouring methyl-ene group and the methyl H atoms of the methyl group bonded to the chiral C atom. The maximum deviations from the mean plane through the disordered aliphatic ring amount to 0.328 (6) and -0.334 (6) Å [r.m.s.d. = 0.2061 Å], and -0.3677 (12) and 0.3380 (12) Å [r.m.s.d. = 0.2198 Å] for the two different sites. Both fragments show a half-chair conformation. Additionally, the N-N-C(=S)-N entity is approximately planar, with the maximum deviation from the mean plane through the selected atoms being 0.0135 (18) Å [r.m.s.d. = 0.0100 Å]. The mol-ecule is not planar due to the dihedral angle between the thio-semicarbazone entity and the aromatic ring, which amounts to 51.8 (1)°, and due to the sp 3-hybridized carbon atoms of the fixolide fragment. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are connected by H⋯S inter-actions with graph-set motif C(4), forming a mono-periodic hydrogen-bonded ribbon along [100]. The Hirshfeld surface analysis suggests that the major contributions for the crystal cohesion are [(R,S)-isomers considered separately] H⋯H (75.7%), H⋯S/S⋯H (11.6%), H⋯C/C⋯H (8.3% and H⋯N/N⋯H (4.4% for both of them).

Project description:In the quinoline fused-ring system of the title compound, C(9)H(9)NO, the pyridine ring is planar to within 0.011 (3) Å, while the partially saturated cyclo-hexene ring adopts a sofa conformation with an asymmetry parameter ΔC(s)(C6) = 1.5 (4)°. There are no classical hydrogen bonds in the crystal structure. Mol-ecules form mol-ecular layers parallel to (100) with a distance between the layers of a/2 = 3.468 Å.

The water mol-ecule links the two O atoms of both independent N-oxides into dimers via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network along [101], which is additionally stabilized by weak C-H⋯O inter-molecular inter-actions. In each mol-ecule, the saturated six-membered rings exist in a conformation inter-mediate between a half-chair and sofa.
