Diaqua-bis-(1,10-phenanthroline)nickel(II) tetra-kis-(cyanido-?C)nickelate(II) tetra-hydro-furan solvate monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Ni(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)][Ni(CN)(4)]·C(4)H(8)O·H(2)O, consists of a cationic [Ni(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) unit, an anionic [Ni(CN)(4)](2-) unit, one uncoordinated water and one tetra-hydro-furan mol-ecule. In the cationic unit, the Ni(2+) atom is coordinated by four N atoms and two O atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. In the anionic unit, the Ni(2+) atom is in a square-planar coordination by four C atoms from four monodentate terminal cyanide ligands. O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds link neighboring cationic and anionic units, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. The inter-stitial tetra-hydro-furan mol-ecule is independently disordered over two sites in a 1:1 ratio.

Project description:The title complex salt, [CuCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)][Tb(NO(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], consists of discrete [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cations and [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anions (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline). The [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cation contains a five-coordinate Cu(2+) ion, ligated by two bidentate phen ligands and one Cl(-) ion, exhibiting a distorted CuN(4)Cl trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anion, the Tb(3+) ion is coordinated by one chelating phen ligand and four chelating nitrates, forming a distorted TbN(2)O(8) bicapped dodeca-hedral configuration. The anions and cations are assembled into a three-dimensional network by weak C-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a square-planar fashion by the two N atoms of a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two water mol-ecules trans to the N atoms. The coordination sphere of the metal atom is augmented by O atoms of two weakly bonded perchlorate anions, thus yielding a strongly distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the perchlorate anions. In addition, the organic mol-ecules are associated by π-π stacking inter-actions between symmetry-equivalent anti-parallel non-nitro-gen aromatic rings, with inter-planar distances of 3.543 (2) Å.

Project description:The polymeric title compound, {[Mn(II) (2)W(IV)(CN)(8)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·6H(2)O}(n), has a one-dimensional cyanide-bridged Mn(II)-W(IV) bimetallic assembly. The coordination geometry of the W(IV) atom is eight-coordinate square-anti-prismatic and that of each of the Mn(II) atoms is six-coordinate distorted octa-hedral. Two pairs of CN ligands of W(CN)(8) are bridged to two Mn(II) atoms, the remaining CN ligands being terminal. Each Mn(II) atom is additionally coordinated by a bidentate 2,2'-bipyridyl ligand and two water mol-ecules. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title complex, [Mn(2)(C(8)H(7)O(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5CH(3)OH, is a carboxyl-ate-bridged dinuclear Mn(II) complex with four phenoxy-acetate ions and two 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules as ligands. Each of the four phenoxy-acetate anions bridges the pair of Mn atoms. The asymmetric unit is completed by a half-occupancy methanol solvent mol-ecule. Face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of 1,10-phenanthroline molecules belonging to adjacent Mn(2) complexes, with an inter-planar separation of circa 3.4 Å, and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the dinuclear units into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of CoCl(2)·6H(2)O, 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and K(3)[Fe(CN)(6)] in deionized water yielded the title cyanide-bridged trinuclear cluster, [Co(2)Fe(CN)(8)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)]·4H(2)O or [{Co(III)(phen)(CN)(4)}(2){Fe(II)(phen)(2)}]·4H(2)O, which contains two Co(III) centers and one Fe(II) center linked by cyanide bridges. The combination of coordinative bonds, O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.630?(2)?Å] results in the stabilization of a supra-molecular structure. All uncoordinated water molecules are disordered. Thermogravimetric analysis reveals that the title complex loses the four crystal water mol-ecules at about 333?K, then the anhydrous phase loses no further mass up to about 573?K, above which decomposition occurs.

The Mg(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions between the aromatic rings [shortest centroid-centroid separation = 3.527 (2) Å] link the cations, anions and 1,10-phenanthroline solvent mol-ecules into a hydrogen-bonded cluster.

Project description:Single crystals of the title heterometallic compound, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O or [Fe(Cphen)(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(phen)](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O, were pre-pared using the one-pot open-air reaction of iron powder, Reineckes salt and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) in acetonitrile. The asymetric unit consists of an [Fe(phen)(3)](2+) cation, two [Cr(phen)(NCS)(4)](-) anions, three acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules and a water mol-ecule. The Fe and Cr atoms both show a slightly distorted octa-hedral FeN(6) and CrN(6) coordination geometry with adjacent angles in the range 79.67?(12)-95.21?(12)°. No classical hydrogen bonding involving the water molecule is observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex [Cu(C14H12N2)2]2[Fe(CN)5(NO)], consists of a [Cu(dmp)2](+) cation (dmp is 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) and half an [Fe(CN)5(NO)](2-) anion. The anion is disordered across an inversion center with the Fe(II) ion slightly offset (ca 0.205Å) from the inversion center in the direction of the disordered trans-coordinating CN/NO ligands. The anion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Cu(I) ion is coordinated by two phenanthroline ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the phenanthroline ligands is 77.16?(4)?Å. In the crystal, the cations are connected to the anions by weak C-H?N hydrogen bonds. In addition, weak ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.512?(3)-3.859?(3)?Å.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along [100]. These chains are further linked by weak ?-? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range of 3.609?(2)-3.758?(1)?Å, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
