ABSTRACT: In the title hydrate, [Pt(CH(3))(3)(CH(3)COO)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O, the Pt(IV) atom exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry built up by three methyl ligands in a facial arrangement, a bipyridine ligand and a monodentately bound acetate ligand. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed between the water mol-ecule and the platinum complex, which link the mol-ecules into chains along the c axis.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pt(CH(3))(3)I(C(12)H(12)N(2))], the Pt(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral configuration with one CH(3) group and the I atom forming a near perpendicular axis relative to the square plane formed by the bipyridine ligand and the two remaining CH(3) groups. The CH(3) group trans to the I atom has a slightly elongated bond to Pt compared to the other CH(3) groups, indicating a difference in trans influence between iodine and the bipyridine ligand.

As a result of the different trans influences of the N and Cl atoms, the Pt-N bonds trans to the Cl atom are slightly longer than those trans to the N atom. The compound displays inter-molecular hydrogen bonding between the water mol-ecule and the Cl anions. There are inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.962?Å.

The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H?N and N-H?N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7?Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.

Project description:The title complex, [Pt(CH(3))(2)(SCH(2)CH(2)CO(2))(C(10)H(8)N(2))], is formed by the unusual oxidative addition of the disulfide, R(2)S(2) (R = CH(2)CH(2)CO(2)H), to (2,2'-bipyridine)-dimethyl-platin-um(II) with elimination of RSH. The product contains an unusual six-membered thiol-ate-carboxyl-ate chelate ring. This slightly distorted octa-hedral complex exhibits cis angles ranging from 77.55?(11) to 97.30?(8)° due to the presence of the thiol-ate-carboxyl-ate chelate ring and the constrained bipyridine group. The crystal packing appears to be controlled by a combination of ?-stacking [centroid-centroid distance = 3.611?(2)?Å] and C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, [PtBr(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))], the Pt(IV) ion has a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination defined by two N atoms of the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and four bromide ions. As a result of the different trans effects of the N and Br atoms, the Pt-Br bonds trans to the N atom are slightly shorter than those to mutually trans Br atoms. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecules are arranged in a V-shaped packing pattern along the b axis and stacked in columns along the a axis. In the columns, several inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings are present. The shortest ring centroid-centroid distance is 3.921?(6)?Å, with a dihedral angle of 1.6?(5)° between the ring planes. The complexes are connected by C-H?Br hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the b axis.
