ABSTRACT: In the title salt, (C(9)H(14)N)[CdBr(2)Cl], the Cd(II) atom is five-coordinated in a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment. All three of the halogen sites show disorder as a result of substitution of Cl for Br or Br for Cl. Two of the three halogen atoms are involved in bridging a pair of Cd(II) atoms, generating a linear polyanionic chain motif.

Project description:The title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(9)H(11)NO(2))](n), is a coordination polymer prepared by the hydro-thermal reaction of cadmium(II) chloride and 3-amino-3-phenyl-propanoic acid. Geometric parameters are in the usual ranges. The cadmium cation is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms at equatorial sites and two O atoms from two ligands at the axial sites. The material is composed of one-dimensional extended polymeric chains in which two Cl atoms bridge Cd atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

Project description:Crystals of the title compound, {(C(6)H(5)C(2)H(4)NH(3))(2)[PbBr(4)]}(n), were grown at room temperature from a solution in N,N-dimethyl-formamide (DMF) using nitro-methane as the poor solvent. This perovskite-type organic-inorganic hybrid compound consists of well ordered sheets of corner-sharing disordered PbBr(6) octa-hedra separated by bilayers of phenethyl-ammonium cations. The octa-hedra are rotated and tilted due to N-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds with the ammonium groups, generating a superstructure in the unit cell similar to that of the tetra-chloridoplumbate (C(6)H(5)C(2)H(4)NH(3))(2)[PbCl(4)].

The Cd atom and two of the Cl atoms lie on a mirror plane. The cation is protonated on the amino group N atom; it is not coordinated to cadmium, but is hydrogen bonded to the chlorido ligands. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound {(C6H18N2)2[Sb2Br10]·H2O} n , consists of two tetra-methyl-ethylendi-ammonium cations that are located on centres of inversion, as well as one tetra-methyl-ethylendi-ammonium cation, one water mol-ecule, one distorted octahedral [SbBr6](3-)anion and one bisphenoidal [SbBr4](-) anion in general positions. The [SbBr6](3-) and [SbBr4](-) anions are linked together by two long Sb-Br bonds of 3.2709 (8) and 3.5447 (7) Å into {[Sb2Br10](4-)} n chains along [001]. One of the three tetra-methyl-ethylendi-ammonium cations is disordered and was refined using a split model (occupancy ratio 0.58:0.42). The cations and the water mol-ecule are connected to the {[Sb2Br10](4-)} n polymeric anions by weak N-H ⋯Br and O(water)-H ⋯Br hydrogen bonding.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(12)N(2))](n), each Hg(II) center within the chain is four-coordinated by one terminal Cl atom, two bridging μ(2)-Cl atoms, and one N-atom donor from a μ(2)-1,4-diaza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (μ(2)-daco) ligand in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The daco ligand acts as an end-to-end bridging ligand and bridges adjacent Hg(II) centers, forming a chain running along [001]. Weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the chains into a three-dimensional network. Comparison of the structural differences with previous findings suggests that the space between the two N donors, as well as the skeletal rigidity in N-heterocyclic linear ligands, may play an important role in the construction of such supra-molecular networks.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [HgBr(2)(C(5)H(5)N(3)O)(2)](n), the Hg(II) cation is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by two N atoms from the pyrazine rings and four bridging Br(-) anions in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Br(-) anions bridge the Hg(II) cations with significantly different Hg-Br bond distances of 2.4775 (8) and 3.1122 (8) Å, forming polymeric chains running along the a axis. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are effective in the stabilization of the crystal structure.
