Tetra-kis(4-cyano-pyridine)-palladium(II) bis-(trifluoro-methane-sulfonate).

ABSTRACT: The title salt, [Pd(C(6)H(4)N(2))(4)](CF(3)SO(3))(2), comprises Pd(4-cyano-pyridine)(4) dications balanced by two trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions. The Pd(II) atom lies in a square-planar geometry defined by four N atoms which form equivalent Pd-N inter-actions. The 4-cyano-pyridine ligands are twisted out of the N(4) plane, forming dihedral angles ranging from 66.5?(2) to 89.9?(2)°. In the crystal packing, columns of edge-to-edge dications define channels in which reside the anions. A range of C-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding interactions stabilizes the crystal packing.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(NCS)(2)(C(6)H(4)N(2))(4)]·2C(4)H(8)O(2)}, the Co(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four N-bonded 3-cyano-pyridine ligands. The asymmetric unit consists of one Co(II) cation, which is located on a special position with site symmetry 2/m, one thio-cyanate anion and one dioxane mol-ecule, located on a crystallographic mirror plane, as well as one 3-cyano-pyridine ligand in a general position. The crystal structure consists of discrete complexes of [Co(NCS)(2)(3-cyano-pyridine)(4)], as well as two non-coordinating 1,4-dioxane solvent mol-ecules which are disordered due to symmetry.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ag(C(14)H(10)N(4)O)(2)]CF(3)SO(3), two N atoms from two independent pyridyl rings of two N'-3-cyano-benzyl-ideneisonicotinohydrazide ligands coordinate to the unique Ag(I) ion, forming a nearly linear coordination geometry. Adjacent silver complexes are primarily linked together by Ag?N inter-actions, with Ag?N separations of 2.877?(2) and 3.314?(2)?Å. On the other hand, one CF(3)SO(3) (-) anion inter-acts with hydrazone groups of two neighbouring ligands via N-H?O hydrogen bonds. These weak inter-molecular inter-actions contribute to the formation of supra-molecular chains. In addition, there are Ag?O inter-actions [2.787?(2)?Å] between Ag and O atoms from adjacent chains.

Project description:The title compound, trans-[Ru(bpy)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, C(10)H(8)N(2)), crystallized from the decomposition of an aged aqueous solution of a dimeric complex of cis-Ru(bpy)(2) in 0.1 M triflic acid. The Ru(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion center and exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination with equivalent ligands trans to each other. The Ru-O distance is 2.1053 (16) Å and the Ru-N distances are 2.0727 (17) and 2.0739 (17) Å. The bpy ligands are bent, due to inter-ligand steric inter-actions between H atoms of opposite pyridyl units across the Ru center. The crystal structure exhibits an extensive hydrogen-bonding network involving the water ligands and the trifluoromethane-sulfonate counter-ions within two-dimensional layers, although no close hydrogen-bond inter-actions exist between different layers.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(BF4)2(C5H5N)2], the Cu(II) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment and is surrounded by four pyridine and two tetra-fluoridoborate mol-ecules. The four pyridine mol-ecules are coordinated to the copper ion through their N atoms in the equatorial plane and display a right-handed screw arrangement around the Cu(II) ion. The remaining two trans positions in the octa-hedron are occupied by the BF4 (-) anions, each coordinating weakly through an F atom. The crystal packing shows a two-dimensional sheet structure parallel to the ab plane that is formed by C-H?F hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The title dinuclear complex, [Cu2(C6H11O2)4(C6H4N2)2], has a paddle-wheel structure. The two crystallographically independent Cu(II) atoms are each in a distorted square-pyramidal environment, in which four O atoms from the four bridging caproate ligands form the basal plane and the pyridine N atom of the 4-cyano-pyridine ligand occupies the apical position. The Cu⋯Cu distance is 2.6055 (9) Å. One of the alkyl chains of the caproate ligands is disordered over two sets of sites, with occupancies of 0.725 (5) and 0.275 (5). In the crystal, two pairs of C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules into chains along [11-1] and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the chains into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:2,5-Bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-thia-diazole (denoted L) has been found to act as a bidentate ligand in the monomeric title complex, [Cu(CF(3)O(3)S)(C(12)H(8)N(4)S)(2)(H(2)O)](CF(3)O(3)S). The complex shows a distorted octahedrally coordinated copper(II) cation which is linked to two thia-diazole ligands, one water mol-ecule and one trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anion. The second trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anion does not coordinate the copper(II) cation. Each thia-diazole ligand uses one pyridyl and one thia-diazole N atom for the coordination of copper. The N atom of the second non-coordinating pyridyl substituent is found on the same side of the 1,3,4-thia-diazole ring as the S atom. The trifluoro-methane-sulfonate ions are involved in a three-dimensional network of O-H?O hydrogen bonds. C-H?N inter-actions also occur.

Project description:The title compound, [Pt(C??H??NP?)?](CF?SO?)?, consists of a Pt(II) atom, situated on an inversion centre, coordinated by two diphosphinoamine bidentate ligands and charge-balanced by two trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions. The Pt(II) atom has a distorted square-planar geometry defined by the four P atoms. The distortion is illustrated by the P-Pt-P bite angle of 70.31?(4)°. The geometry around the N atom deviates from a trigonal-planar geometry, evidenced by the P-N-P bite angle of 102.3?(2) °. The N atom is displaced by 0.114?(4)?Å from the C/P/P plane. In order to coordinate, the orientation of the phenyl rings alters from a C(s) conformation to a C(2v) conformation. The cyclo-pentane ring is slightly twisted: the puckering parameters are q(2) = 0.420?(5)?Å and ? = 26.5?(8) °. The trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anion displays a 0.511?(11):0.489?(11) positional disorder. Weak inter- and intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds influence the crystal packing.

Project description:The crystal structure of a racemic mixture of the title ruthenium(II) complex, [RuCl(C(30)H(30)O(2)P(2))(2)]CF(3)SO(3)·2CH(2)Cl(2), reveals that the coordination geometry about the coordinatively unsaturated metal centre is approximately trigonal-pyramidal, with the chlorine atom occupying one of the equatorial positions. The axial Ru-P bonds are longer than the equatorial Ru-P bonds and there is an acute P-Ru-P angle.
