In the crystal, inversion symmetry results in dimers linked by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds for both molecules.

Supra-molecular chains propagated by glide symmetry along [001] are found in the crystal packing. These are sustained by N-H?N hydrogen bonds with the quinoline N atom being the acceptor. The chains are connected into a three-dimensional architecture by ?-? inter-actions involving all three aromatic rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.5650?(9)-3.6264?(9)?Å].

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(16)ClNO, the dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the conjugated part of the cyclo-hexene ring is 61.7?(2)°. Part of the cyclo-hexene ring and one of the attached methyl groups are disordered over two orientations with occupancies of 0.602?(7) and 0.398?(7). In addition, the crystal studied was a racemic twin [Flack parameter = 0.58?(4)]. In the crystal, the A mol-ecules are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming double-stranded chains along [100]. The chains stack up the c axis in an -A-A-B-B-A-A- manner, with a number of ?-? inter-actions involving A and B mol-ecules; the centroid-centroid distances vary from 3.4862?(11) to 3.6848?(11)?Å
