[?-1,2-Bis(4-pyrid-yl)ethane-?N:N']bis-[(4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine-?N,N',N'')silver(I)] bis-(trifluoro-methane-sulfonate).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ag(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(C(21)H(15)N(3))(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2), the Ag(I) atom is coordinated by three N atoms of one 4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (phtpy) ligand and one pyridyl N atom of the 1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethane (bpe) ligand, displaying a distorted square-planar geometry. Two Ag(I) atoms are bridged by one trans-bpe ligand, generating a dinuclear cation. The dinuclear cation is located on a centre of inversion, which is in the middle of the ethyl-ene fragment of the bpe ligand. In the crystal, the pyridyl rings of neighboring dinuclear units are stacked by ?-? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.667?(2) and 3.835?(2)?Å. The F and O atoms of the CF(3)SO(3) (-) anions are involved in inter-molecular C-H?F and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, respectively, with -CH groups from the phtpy ligands.

Project description:The title compound, trans-[Ru(bpy)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, C(10)H(8)N(2)), crystallized from the decomposition of an aged aqueous solution of a dimeric complex of cis-Ru(bpy)(2) in 0.1 M triflic acid. The Ru(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion center and exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination with equivalent ligands trans to each other. The Ru-O distance is 2.1053?(16)?Å and the Ru-N distances are 2.0727?(17) and 2.0739?(17)?Å. The bpy ligands are bent, due to inter-ligand steric inter-actions between H atoms of opposite pyridyl units across the Ru center. The crystal structure exhibits an extensive hydrogen-bonding network involving the water ligands and the trifluoromethane-sulfonate counter-ions within two-dimensional layers, although no close hydrogen-bond inter-actions exist between different layers.

Project description:A discrete neutral Cu(II) complex, [Cu(CF(3)SO(3))(2)(C(16)H(18)N(4))], has been derived from the symmetrical tetra-dentate Schiff base, N,N'-bis-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-idene]ethane-1,2-diamine. The copper centre assumes a tetra-gonally distorted pseudo-octa-hedral geometry with the O atoms of two trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions coordinated weakly in the axial positions. The Cu-N distances lie in the range 1.941?(3)-2.011?(3)?Å and the Cu-O distances are 2.474?(3) and 2.564?(3)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ag(C(14)H(10)N(4)O)(2)]CF(3)SO(3), two N atoms from two independent pyridyl rings of two N'-3-cyano-benzyl-ideneisonicotinohydrazide ligands coordinate to the unique Ag(I) ion, forming a nearly linear coordination geometry. Adjacent silver complexes are primarily linked together by Ag?N inter-actions, with Ag?N separations of 2.877?(2) and 3.314?(2)?Å. On the other hand, one CF(3)SO(3) (-) anion inter-acts with hydrazone groups of two neighbouring ligands via N-H?O hydrogen bonds. These weak inter-molecular inter-actions contribute to the formation of supra-molecular chains. In addition, there are Ag?O inter-actions [2.787?(2)?Å] between Ag and O atoms from adjacent chains.

In the crystal structure, 1,2-bis-[(3-cyano-benzyl-idene)hydrazono]-1,2-diphenyl-ethane ligands act as bridging ligands and each coordinates to four Ag(I) ions, resulting in a one-dimensional chain structure. Project description:The title complex, [Ag(2)(C(25)H(22)P(2))(2)(C(9)H(7)N)(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2)·C(9)H(7)N, was prepared by the reaction of silver(I) trifluoro-methane-sulfonate with isoquinoline and bis-(diphenyl-phosphan-yl)methane (dppm). The dinuclear mol-ecule is located about a center of inversion and the Ag(I) atom is coordinated by two dppm P atoms and one isoquinoline N atom, forming an eight-membered metalla ring. In addition, in the asymmetric unit, there is a half-mol-ecule of isoquinoline located about a center of inversion. Since this mol-ecule does not possess this symmetry, for one position in the ring there is superposition of both a C atom of a C-H group and the isoquinoline N atom. In the structure, the Ag-P distances [2.4296 (9) and 2.4368 (9) Å] agree with the corresponding distances in related structures, while the Ag-N bond length [2.489 (3) Å] is slightly longer than that in related structures. On the other hand, the P-Ag-P angle [156.44 (3)°] is much larger than the corresponding angles in related structures. The trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions do not coordinate to Ag(I) atoms. As is usually found for these anions, the -CF(3) group is disordered over two orientations [occupancies = 0.57 (12) and 0.43 (12)].

Weak C-H?O interactions are seen in the crystal.

The axial Ru-P bonds are longer than the equatorial Ru-P bonds and there is an acute P-Ru-P angle.
