[?-1,2-Bis(4-pyrid-yl)ethane-?N:N']bis-[(4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine-?N,N',N'')silver(I)] bis-(trifluoro-methane-sulfonate).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ag(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(C(21)H(15)N(3))(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2), the Ag(I) atom is coordinated by three N atoms of one 4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (phtpy) ligand and one pyridyl N atom of the 1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethane (bpe) ligand, displaying a distorted square-planar geometry. Two Ag(I) atoms are bridged by one trans-bpe ligand, generating a dinuclear cation. The dinuclear cation is located on a centre of inversion, which is in the middle of the ethyl-ene fragment of the bpe ligand. In the crystal, the pyridyl rings of neighboring dinuclear units are stacked by ?-? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.667?(2) and 3.835?(2)?Å. The F and O atoms of the CF(3)SO(3) (-) anions are involved in inter-molecular C-H?F and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, respectively, with -CH groups from the phtpy ligands.

Project description:The title compound, trans-[Ru(bpy)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, C(10)H(8)N(2)), crystallized from the decomposition of an aged aqueous solution of a dimeric complex of cis-Ru(bpy)(2) in 0.1 M triflic acid. The Ru(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion center and exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination with equivalent ligands trans to each other. The Ru-O distance is 2.1053 (16) Å and the Ru-N distances are 2.0727 (17) and 2.0739 (17) Å. The bpy ligands are bent, due to inter-ligand steric inter-actions between H atoms of opposite pyridyl units across the Ru center. The crystal structure exhibits an extensive hydrogen-bonding network involving the water ligands and the trifluoromethane-sulfonate counter-ions within two-dimensional layers, although no close hydrogen-bond inter-actions exist between different layers.

Project description:The title complex, [Ag(2)(C(25)H(22)P(2))(2)(C(9)H(7)N)(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2)·C(9)H(7)N, was prepared by the reaction of silver(I) trifluoro-methane-sulfonate with isoquinoline and bis-(diphenyl-phosphan-yl)methane (dppm). The dinuclear mol-ecule is located about a center of inversion and the Ag(I) atom is coordinated by two dppm P atoms and one isoquinoline N atom, forming an eight-membered metalla ring. In addition, in the asymmetric unit, there is a half-mol-ecule of isoquinoline located about a center of inversion. Since this mol-ecule does not possess this symmetry, for one position in the ring there is superposition of both a C atom of a C-H group and the isoquinoline N atom. In the structure, the Ag-P distances [2.4296 (9) and 2.4368 (9) Å] agree with the corresponding distances in related structures, while the Ag-N bond length [2.489 (3) Å] is slightly longer than that in related structures. On the other hand, the P-Ag-P angle [156.44 (3)°] is much larger than the corresponding angles in related structures. The trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions do not coordinate to Ag(I) atoms. As is usually found for these anions, the -CF(3) group is disordered over two orientations [occupancies = 0.57 (12) and 0.43 (12)].

Project description:A discrete neutral Cu(II) complex, [Cu(CF(3)SO(3))(2)(C(16)H(18)N(4))], has been derived from the symmetrical tetra-dentate Schiff base, N,N'-bis-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-idene]ethane-1,2-diamine. The copper centre assumes a tetra-gonally distorted pseudo-octa-hedral geometry with the O atoms of two trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions coordinated weakly in the axial positions. The Cu-N distances lie in the range 1.941 (3)-2.011 (3) Å and the Cu-O distances are 2.474 (3) and 2.564 (3) Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, [Ag(C(14)H(14)N(4)O(2))(1.5)](CF(3)SO(3)), comprises a Ag(+) cation, three half-mol-ecules of N,N'-bis-(2-pyridyl-meth-yl)oxalamide (each of which is dis-posed about a centre of inversion) and a trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anion. Distinct coordination modes are found for the bridging ligands, i.e., a μ(2),κ(2)-bridging mode involving pyridine N atoms for one ligand, and a μ(2),κ(4)-bridging mode, employing both pyridine N and amide O atoms for the remaining ligands. The Ag(+) cations, which are in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination, and the ligands combine to form a two-dimensional array parallel to (101); these arrays are connected into a three-dimensional structure by trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions via N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O, and C-F⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(2)(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(2)(NCS)(2)], is isostructural with the Mn(III)-containing analogue. Each Fe(III) atom is chelated by a tetra-dentate 2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate ligand and by the N atom of a thio-cyanate anion, in a square-pyramidal arrangement. The complex mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers, with an Fe-O contact of 2.549 (3) Å, trans to each thio-cyanate anion, completing a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry.

The Na-N distances range from 2.427 (3) to 2.507 (3) Å, intra-ligand N-Na-N angles range from 74.71 (8) to 79.31 (9)°, and adjacent inter-ligand N-Na-N angles range between 100.42 (9) and 104.97 (9)°. The structure is twinned by inversion [occupancy factors = 0.50 (9)] and the trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anion is disordered, with two end-over-end orientations of unequal occupancy [0.781 (3) and 0.219 (3)].

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(20)H(13)BrN(4))(C(18)H(15)P)(2)]BF(4)·0.5CH(2)Cl(2), the copper(I) cation adopts a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement, coordinated by two triphenyl-phosphine ligands and two N atoms of the potentially tridentate terpyridine ligand. One half-mol-ecule of dichloro-methane crystallizes with the complex. The chlorine atoms are disordered over two sites with occupancies fixed at 0.30 and 0.20 respectively. The N donor atom of the central pyridine inter-acts weakly with the copper centre at a distance of 3.071 Å.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title complex, [Cu2Cl2(C15H11N3)2](CF3O3S)2, the CuII metal center is fivefold coordinated by two chloride ions and three nitro-gen atoms of the terpyridine ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry; two tri-fluoro-methane-sulfonate ions complete the outer coordination sphere. π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridyl rings in adjacent mol-ecules contribute to the alignment of the complexes in columns along the a-axis. This structure represents the first example of a binuclear dication of formula [Cu(terpy)2Cl2]2+ with tri-fluoro-methane-sulfonate as counter-ions.

Project description:In the title salt, [Zn(2)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(5)](ClO(4))(4), an ethyl-enediamine mol-ecule bridges two bis-(ethyl-enediamine)-zinc units; the five-coordinate Zn atoms show a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry that is distorted towards square-pyramidal (that of one Zn atom is distorted by 12% and that of the other by 34%). The perchlorate ions are all disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio. The cation inter-acts weakly with the anion by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.
