4,4'-Bipyridine-cyclo-hexane-1,2,4,5-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid (1/1).

ABSTRACT: In the title 1:1 adduct, C(10)H(8)N(2)·C(10)H(12)O(8), the dihedral angle between the pyridine rings in the 4,4-bipyridine molecule is 8.33 (13)°. In the crystal, the cyclo-hexane-1,2,4,5-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecules inter-act with each other through inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite chain along the a axis, which is further linked perpendicularly by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving bipyridine, resulting in a supra-molecular corrugated sheet parallel to the (110) plane.

Project description:The title compound, C10H12O8, a prospective raw material for colourless polyimides which are applied to electronic and microelectronic devices, lies about an inversion centre and the cyclo-hexane ring adopts a chair conformation. Two crystallographycally independent carb-oxy-lic acid groups on adjacent C atoms are in equatorial positions, resulting in a mutually trans conformation. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds around an inversion centre and a threefold rotoinversion axis, respectively, form an inversion dimer with an R 2 (2)(8) motif and a trimer with an R 3 (3)(12) motif.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title co-crystal, C10H6O8·2C8H10N4O2, comprises a centrosymmetric benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid (LH4) mol-ecule and a mol-ecule of caffeine in a general position. LH4 is nonplanar, with the dihedral angles between the ring and pendent carb-oxy-lic acid groups being 44.22 (7) and 49.74 (7)°. By contrast, the caffeine mol-ecule is planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.040 Å). Supra-molecular layers parallel to (-1-10) are sustained by carb-oxy-lic acid O-H⋯O(carbon-yl) and O-H⋯N(imidazole) hydrogen bonds, as well as by meth-yl-carbonyl C-H⋯O inter-actions. These stack via π-π inter-actions between the benzene and imidazole rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.4503 (10) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, 3C(10)H(8)N(2)·4C(7)H(5)NO(4), the asymmetric unit contains two mol-ecules of pyridine-3,5-dicarb-oxy-lic acid and one mol-ecule of 4,4'-bipyridine in general positions together with one mol-ecule of 4,4'-bipyridine lying across a centre of inversion, thus giving a 4:3 molar ratio of pyridine-3,5-dicarb-oxy-lic acid to 4,4'-bipyridine. The dihedral angle between the bipyridine rings on general positions is 21.2?(2)°. These mol-ecular units are linked by O-H?N hydrogen bonds forming an extended two-dimensional framework in the crystal.
