ABSTRACT: In the title chalcone [systemetic name 1-(2,4-dimeth-oxy-phen-yl)-3-(3,4,5-trimeth-oxy-phen-yl)prop-2-en-1-one], C(20)H(22)O(6), the dihedral angle between the plane of the two benzene rings is 7.03?(4)° with all but one of the meth-oxy groups essentially co-planar with these rings [C-C-O-C torsion angles = -76.1?(2), -0.7?(3), 1.8?(3), -6.2?(3), 2.0?(3)°]. An intra-molecular C-H?O inter-action occurs. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:IN THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 1-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one], C(19)H(20)O(5), the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 26.88 (5)°. One of the meth-oxy groups is twisted slightly away from the plane [C-O-C-C torsion angle = -12.8 (3)°] while the others are almost co-planer [C-O-C-C torsion angles = -3.2 (3), 2.6 (3) and -3.6 (3)°]. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions. A weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O inter-action occurs.

Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers, which are further linked by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions into ribbons propagated in [2[Formula: see text]0]. Finally, π-π inter-actions between the benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.583 (13) Å] stabilize the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title compound, C21H21NO5, obtained from a Morita-Baylis-Hillman adduct, the hydrogenated five-membered ring adopts a shallow envelope conformation, with the C atom bearing the carb-oxy-lic acid substituent deviating by 0.237 (1) Å from the mean plane of the other four atoms (r.m.s. deviation = 0.007 Å). The dihedral angle between the fused ring system (all atoms; r.m.s. deviation = 0.057 Å) and the pendant trimeth-oxy benzene ring is 66.65 (3)°. The C atoms of the meta-meth-oxy groups lie close to the plane of the benzene ring [deviations = 0.052 (1) and -0.083 (1) Å], whereas the C atom of the para-meth-oxy group is significantly displaced [deviation = -1.289 (1) Å]. In the crystal, carb-oxy-lic acid inversion dimers generate R 2 (2)(8) loops. The dimers are connected by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming [011] chains. A C-H⋯O inter-action is also observed.

Project description:In the title structure, C21H20O5·C2H5OH, the curcumine-type mol-ecule has a double E conformation for the two benzyl-idene double bonds [C=C = 1.342 (4) and 1.349 (4) Å] and is nearly planar with respect to the non-H atoms (r.m.s. deviation from planarity = 0.069 Å). The two phenolic OH groups form bifurcated hydrogen bonds with intra-molecular branches to adjacent meth-oxy O atoms and inter-molecular branches to either a neighbouring mol-ecule or an ethanol solvent mol-ecule. The ethanol O atom donates a hydrogen bond to the keto O atom. These hydrogen bonds link the constituents into layers parallel to (101) in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compounds, C10H11BrO4, (I), and C9H9BrO4, (II), are derivatives of bromo-hy-droxy-benzoic acids. Compound (II) crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In both (I) and (II), the O-CH2-O-CH3 side chain is not in its fully extended conformation; the O-C-O-C torsion angle is 67.3 (3) ° in (I), and -65.8 (3) and -74.1 (3)° in mol-ecules A and B, respectively, in compound (II). In the crystal of (I), mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming C(5) chains along [010]. The chains are linked by short Br⋯O contacts [3.047 (2) Å], forming sheets parallel to the bc plane. The sheets are linked via C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional architecture. In the crystal of (II), mol-ecules A and B are linked to form R 2 (2)(8) dimers via two strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. These dimers are linked into ⋯A-B⋯A-B⋯A-B⋯ [C 2 (2)(15)] chains along [011] by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The chains are linked by slipped parallel π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distances = 3.6787 (18) and 3.8431 (17) Å], leading to the formation of slabs parallel to the bc plane.

There are slight differences in the C(H(3))-O-C(H(2))-O- torsion angles of the eqivalent meth-oxy-meth-oxy groups. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present.

The ethano-ate group in one of the two mol-ecules is disordered over two positions with a site-occupation factor of 0.880?(7) for the major occupied site. In the crystal, the 1,3-diketone group exists in the keto-enol isomeric form due to the stabilizing effect of the intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond present in this form. The compound packs as a layered structure in which C-H?? and C-H?O inter-actions are present within and between the layers.
