Project description:The title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n) or {(pipzH(2))[Bi(2)(pydc)(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), where pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and pipz is piperazine, was obtained by reaction of Bi(NO(3))(3)·5H(2)O with (pipzH(2))(pydc-H)(2)·3H(2)O in a 1:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution. There are two independent Bi(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is eight-coordinate with a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, and another which is nine-coordinate with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The carboxyl-ate groups of the (pydc)(2-) ligands link dinuclear [Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)](2-) units into one-dimensional coordin-ation polymers. The pipzH(2) (2+) cations (site symmetry ) and non-coordinated water mol-ecules lie between these polymers, forming N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the O atoms of the carboxylate groups.

Project description:In the title compound, [CoNa(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Co(II) atom is coordinated by two pyridine N atoms and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two doubly deprotonated pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. One Na(+) cation is coordinated by three carboxyl-ate O atoms and two water mol-ecules and the other is coordinated by five carboxyl-ate O atoms and two water mol-ecules in an irregular geometry. The bis-(pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ato)cobalt complex units are connected by Na(+) cations and bridging water mol-ecules into a three-dimensional coordination network. O-H?O hydrogen bonds are formed between the water mol-ecules and the carboxyl-ate O atoms.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)][Ni(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (pydcH(2)) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different Ni(II) atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)(2)](2)-?-Ni(H(2)O)(4)}(2-) anion are centrosymmetric. All Ni(II) atoms exhibit an octa-hedral coordination geometry. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-O?? stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [3.570?(1), 3.758?(1) and 3.609?(1)?Å], are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:There are two independent La(III) cations in the polymeric title compound, {[La(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n). One is nine-coordinated in an LaN(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules, while the other is ten-coordinated in an LaNO(9) bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules. The two La(III) cations are separated by a non-bonding distance of 5.026 (3) Å. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions bridge the La(III) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.700 (5) Å.

Project description:The reaction of anti-mony(III) chloride, 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (pydcH(2)), in a 1:2:2 molar ratio in an aqueous solution, resulted in the formation of the title centrosymmetric disordered mixed-valence Sb(III)/Sb(V) compound, (C(10)H(9)N(2))(2)[Sb(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(OH)(6)]·8H(2)O or (4,4'-bipyH)(2)[Sb(pydc)(OH)(2)(μ-OH)](2)·8H(2)O. The seven donor atoms of the (pydc)(2-) groups and the hydroxido ligands form a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal arrangement around the Sb(III)/Sb(V) centers. C-H⋯π stacking inter-actions between CH groups of the complex dianion and the aromatic rings of the (4,4'-bipyH)(+) cations, with a distance of 2.89 Å, are observed. In the crystal structure, a wide range of noncovalent inter-actions, consisting of O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds [D⋯A ranging from 2.722 (2) to 3.137 (3) Å], ion pairing, π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distance of 3.4363 (13) Å] and C-H⋯π inter-actions, connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(10)H(9)N(3))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. One of the water mol-ecules is coordinated with the Zn(II) ion and this mol-ecule forms an O-H?O inter-action with the lattice water mol-ecule. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligand is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0242?Å). In the crystal, C-H?O, C-H?N, O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds are present.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Ca(3)Eu(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(6)(H(2)O)(12)]·10.5H(2)O}(n), the Eu(III) ion is nine-coordinated by three tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate (PDA) ligands, forming a [Eu(PDA)(3)](3-) building block. The Ca(2+) ions adopt two types of coordination geometries. One Ca(2+) ion, lying on a twofold rotation axis, is eight-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from four PDA ligands and four water mol-ecules, and the other two Ca(2+) ions, each lying on an inversion center, are six-coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two PDA ligands and four water mol-ecules. The carboxyl-ate groups bridge the Eu(III) and Ca(2+) ions into a three-dimensional porous framework, with channels extending along [010] and [001] in which lattice water mol-ecules are located. Two of the lattice water mol-ecules are disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy and one water mol-ecule is 0.25-occupied. Numerous O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms are present.

The metals are all six-coordinate with distorted octahedral geometries. The [Co(II)(dipicCl)(H(2)O)(3)] complexes are neutral, with one tridentate ligand and three water molecules. The [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complexes each have two tridentate ligands. The [Na(2)Co(II)(H(2)O)(12)](4+) cluster has a central Co(II) ion which is coordinated to six water molecules and lies on a crystallographic inversion center. Four of the water molecules bridge to two sodium ions, each of which have three other water molecules coordinated along with an O atom from the [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complex. In the crystal structure, the various units are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Two water molecules are disordered equally over two positions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(5))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], exhibits a centrosymmetric binuclear molecule. Each completely deprotonated 4-hy-droxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecule assumes a tridentate chelating coordination mode. The square-pyramidal coordination geometry around the Cu(II) ion is completed by the bridging bipyridine ligand and an apical water molecule. Adjacent complexes are connected via O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds to generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.
