ABSTRACT: In the cation of the title compound, C(12)H(15)N(4) (+)·C(7)H(6)NO(2) (-), the benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 30.51?(9) and 25.64?(9)° with the imidazole and imidazolinium rings, respectively. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C(9)H(12)N(3) (+)·2Cl(-)·H(2)O, comprises two mol-ecules, two chloride anions and one mol-ecule of crystal water. In the imidazolinium ring, the protonation contributes to delocalization of the positive charge over the two C-N bonds. Both chloride anions are acceptors of four hydrogen bonds in a flattened tetra-hedron environment. The donors are NH(2) groups, the NH groups of the imidazolinium rings and the water mol-ecule. These hydrogen bonds and N-H?O(H(2)O) hydrogen bonds form a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(16)N(4) (+)·2C(7)H(4)NO(4) (-), the complete 2,2'-(p-phenyl-ene)bis-(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-3-ium) (bib) dication is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The bib cations reside on crystallographic inversion centers, which coincide with the centroids of the respective benzene rings. In the cation, the imidazole ring adopts an envelop conformation with the flap atom displaced by 0.082?(3)?Å from the plane through the other ring atoms. In the crystal, the cations and anions are linked through inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains running along the a axis. C-H?O inter-actions also occur. Weak ?-? contacts between the imidazole rings of bib and between the benzene rings of NB [centroid-centroid distances = 3.501?(1) and 3.281?(2)?Å, respectively] may further stabilize the structure.

Project description:The title compound, C27H38ClN2+·C32H12BF24-, was synthesized by reacting the product formed from a previous reaction between 1,3-bis-(2,6-diiso-propyl-phen-yl)imidazolinium-2-carboxyl-ate (SIPrCO2), and SOCl2, with sodium tetra-kis-[3,5-bis-(tri-fluoro-meth-yl)phen-yl]borate (NaBARF). In the cation, the imidazole ring is in a half-chair conformation and the formerly carbene carbon atom is bonded in a distorted trigonal-planar geometry with N-C-Cl angles of 122.96?(16) and 122.21?(16)° and an N-C-N angle of 114.83?(18)°. In the crystal, weak C-H?F hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions, forming a three-dimensional network. In addition, a short Cl?F contact of 3.213?Å and several short F?F contacts less than the sum of the van der Waals radii [1.47?Å + 1.47?Å = 2.94?Å] are observed. The F atoms of two of the CF3 groups were refined as disordered over four sets of sites.

Project description:In the title compound, C(16)H(13)ClN(4)S, the thienopyridine fused-ring system is nearly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0333 Å) and forms a dihedral angle of 4.4 (3)° with the attached dihydro-imidazole ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0429 Å) allowing for the formation of an intra-molecular (exocyclic amine)N-H⋯N(imine) hydrogen bond. The benzene rings of the disordered (50:50) -N(H)-C(6)H(4)Cl residue form dihedral angles of 59.1 (3) and 50.59 (15)° with the fused ring system. In the crystal, (imidazole amine)N-H⋯N(pyridine) hydrogen bonds lead to a supra-molecular helical chain along the b axis. The chains assemble into layers (ab plane) with inter-digitation of the chloro-benzene rings which results in weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions in the c-axis direction.
