ABSTRACT: The title structure, {[Ba(0.71)Sr(1.29)(C(4)HO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(10)]·H(2)O}(n), is built from dimers of edge-sharing monocapped square anti-prisms [(Ba/Sr)O(3)(H(2)O)(6)], in which barium and strontium are statistically disordered [ratio 0.353?(8):0.647?(8)] on the same crystallographic site. Such dimers are connected via bidentate hydrogen squarate groups [HC(4)O(4)](-), leading to chains that propagate along the b axis. Inter- and intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds maintain the crystal packing through a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title complex, [Ti2Cl4{CH3C(CH2O)2(CH2OH)}2], lies across a centre of symmetry with a diethyl ether solvent mol-ecule hydrogen bonded to the -CH2OH groups on either side of it. The Ti(IV) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by a tripodal ligand and two terminal chloride atoms. There are three coordination modes for the tripodal ligand distinguishable on the basis of their very different Ti-O bond lengths. For the terminal alkoxo ligand, the Ti-O distance is 1.760?(1)?Å, the asymmetric bridge system has Ti-O bond lengths of 1.911?(1) and 2.048?(1)?Å. Four water O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Co(II) ion [Co-O = 2.0593?(16) and 2.1118?(16)?Å] form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, and the distorted octahedral geometry is completed by the two N atoms [Co-N = 2.1306?(18)?Å] from two isonicotinamide ligands. In the anion, the carboxyl-ate group is twisted from the attached benzene ring at 8.84?(17)°. In the crystal, a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network, formed by classical O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, consolidates the crystal packing, which exhibits ?-? inter-actions between the benzene and pyridine rings, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.458?(1) and 3.606?(1)?Å, respectively.

Each completely deprotonated 4-hy-droxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecule assumes a tridentate chelating coordination mode. The square-pyramidal coordination geometry around the Cu(II) ion is completed by the bridging bipyridine ligand and an apical water molecule. Adjacent complexes are connected via O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds to generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Four L ligands bind to each pair of Co(II) atoms in a plane, two of which bridge the two Co(II) atoms as bidentate groups while the other two coordinate to a single Co(II) atom in a monodentate mode. Two half-mol-ecules of 4,4'-bipyridine coordinate the Co(II) atoms from the upside and underside. The packing features extensice O-H?O hydrogen bonding.

The benzene rings of the anions are involved in π-π stacking. Project description:In the title coordination polymer, {[Ce2(C8H4O5)3(H2O)9]·6H2O} n , the asymmetric unit is formed by two Ce(III) atoms, three 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligands, nine coordinating water mol-ecules and six water mol-ecules of crystallization. The two Ce(III) atoms are bridged by 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligands acting in a bis-bidentate coordination mode, generating infinite chains along [101]. Both independent metal atoms are nine-coordinated, one by four O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of two bridging 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligands and five O atoms from water mol-ecules, generating a tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The coordination around the second Ce(III) atom is similar, except that one of the water mol-ecules is replaced by an O atom from an additional 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligand acting in a monodentate coordination mode and forming a capped square-anti-prismatic geometry.

The mol-ecule lies on a twofold rotation axis that passes through the middle of this bond as well as through the bridging dimethyl sulfide ligand. The Nb(III) ion exists in an octa-hedral coordination environment defined by two terminal and two bridging Cl atoms, and (CH(3))(2)Se/(CH(3))(2)S ligands. The (bridging) ligand lying on the twofold rotation axis is an ordered (CH(3))(2)S ligand, whereas the terminal ones on a general position are a mixture of (CH(3))(2)Se and (CH(3))(2)S ligands in a 0.647?(2):0.353?(2) ratio (the methyl C atoms are also disordered).
