ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(19)H(20)O(5), the pyran ring is in an envelope conformation, whereas the benzene and dihydro-pyran ring system is planar with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0190?(1)?Å. The hy-droxy group is coplanar with the attached benzene ring [r.m.s. deviation = 0.0106?(1)?Å]. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains along the b axis by weak C-H?O inter-actions. These chains are stacked along the a axis. C-H?? and weak ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7698?(7)?Å] are also observed.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(14)H(14)O(4), lies on a twofold rotation axis that bis-ects the central benzene ring, with only one half-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The pyran-one systems adopt distorted twist- boat conformations, with the two methyl-ene C atoms displaced by 0.537 (1) and 0.163 (2) Å from the best-fit plane through the remaining five C and O atoms (r.m.s. deviation = 0.073 Å). In the crystal, bifurcated C-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bonds link pairs of adjacent mol-ecules in an obverse fashion, stacking mol-ecules along c. These contacts are further stabilized by very weak π-π inter-actions between adjacent benzene rings with centroid-centroid distances of 4.1951 (4) Å. Additional C-H⋯O contacts link these stacks, giving a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, C(17)H(17)ClO(3), has been synthesized by the reaction of p-chloro-benzaldehyde, isopropyl-idene malonate and 5,5-dimethyl-cyclo-hexane-1,3-dione with triethyl-benzyl-ammonium chloride in water as a green solvent. The six membered pyran-one ring of the hexa-hydro-coumarin system has a screw-boat conformation while the dimethyl-cyclo-hexenone system has a distorted envelope conformation. The dihedral angle between the least-squares planes of the coumarin ring system and the benzene ring is 85.64?(9)°.

Project description:In the title compound, C(27)H(15)NO(6)·0.5CHCl(3), the central pyran ring and both the benzopyran systems are planar, with the dihedral angle between the outer rings being 3.24?(6)°. The indolin-2-one system is in a perpendicular configuration with respect to the pyran ring [dihedral angle = 87.58?(2)°]. Supra-molecular layers in the ac plane are formed in the crystal structure whereby inversion-related mol-ecules are connected by N-H?O hydrogen bonds. These are further linked by C-H?O inter-actions, forming a supra-molecular layer in the ac plane. Crystal structures of 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromene-7,8-diyl di-acetate and 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromene-7,8-diyl bis-(pent-4-ynoate).

Project description:In the structures of the two title coumarin derivatives, C14H12O6, (1), and C20H16O6, (2), one with acetate and the other with pent-4-ynoate substituents, both the coumarin rings are almost planar. In (1), both acetate substituents are significantly rotated out of the coumarin plane to minimize steric repulsions. One acetate substituent is disordered over two equivalent conformations, with occupancies of 0.755?(17) and 0.245?(17). In (2), there are two pent-4-ynoate substituents, the C C group of one being disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.55?(2) and 0.45?(2). One of the pent-4-ynoate substituents is in an extended conformation, while the other is in a bent conformation. In this derivative, the planar part of both pent-4-ynoate substituents deviate from the coumarin plane. The packing of (1) is dominated by ?-? stacking involving the coumarin rings and weak C-H?O contacts link the parallel stacks in the [101] direction. In contrast, in (2) the packing is dominated by R 2 (2)(24) hydrogen bonds, involving the acidic sp H atom and the oxo O atom, which link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers. The bent conformation of one of the pent-4-ynoate substituents prevents the coumarin rings from engaging in ?-? stacking.
