3-(5-Phenyl-4-phenyl-sulfonyl-1-p-tolyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-1,2-dihydro-quinoxaline.

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(30)H(24)N(4)O(2)S, the dihydro-quinoxaline fused-ring system is disordered over three orientations in a 0.358 (2):0.318 (3):0.324 (3) ratio; the mean planes of the non-H atoms of the disorder components are aligned at 4.0 (3), 11.8 (4) and 41.7 (2)° with respect to the pyrazole ring. The rings of the phenyl and tolyl substituents are aligned at 64.0 (1) and 43.7 (1)° with respect to the pyrazole ring. Weak intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding links the mol-ecules, forming supra-molecular chains running along the a axis.

The tolyl substituent is disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio; the mean planes of the aromatic ring are aligned at 67.7?(3) and 69.4?(3)° with respect to the pyrazole ring.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(24)H(18)N(2)O(3)S, the 13-atom ring system comprising the quinoxaline and fused five-membered ring exhibits an r.m.s. deviation from coplanarity of 0.039 Å, with a maximum deviation of 0.0710 (10) Å for the PhCO-bearing C atom of the five-membered ring. The 10-membered C(8)N(2) quinoxaline ring system has an r.m.s. deviation from coplanarity of 0.022 Å, with a maximum deviation of 0.0403 (9) Å for the C atom involved in the C=C bond in the five-membered ring. The three atoms of the five-membered ring fused to the quinoxaline ring system show deviations of up to 0.118 (2) Å for the PhCO-bearing C atom. C-N bond distances in the quinoxaline ring system of the title mol-ecule deviate from those in unsubstituted quinoxaline. In particular, the two C-N distances to the N atom involved in the five-membered ring are essentially equal, with values of 1.3786 (17) and 1.3773 (16) Å, unlike the difference of nearly 0.06 Å in quinoxaline.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(23)H(18)N(2)O(3)S, contains two mol-ecules with comparable geometries. In one mol-ecule, the pyrazole ring forms dihedral angles of 61.65 (11), 47.88 (11) and 63.20 (14)° with the three benzene rings. The corresponding values for the other mol-ecule are 77.19 (11), 43.55 (11) and 63.56 (15)°. In the crystal, both mol-ecules are linked into inversion dimers by pairs of C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, generating R(2) (2)(14) loops in each case.

The crystal structure is stabilized by two inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen-bonds, which build a two-dimensional network developing parallel to (100). The dihedral angles between the planes of the pyrazole rings and their attached phenyl rings are 17.4 (3) and 5.9 (4)°. The pyrazole rings make a dihedral angle of 87.84 (16)°. One of the two hy-droxy groups forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the other hy-droxy group, whereas the second is involved in an inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond. As a result of these inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, helical chains running along the b axis are formed.

The terminal N-bonded phenyl groups adopt staggered conformations relative to their respective parent heterocycles, the relevant least-squares planes inter-sect at angles of 32.35 (11) and 38.59 (10)°. In the crystal, C-H⋯O contacts connect the mol-ecules into chains along the b axis and give rise to a C(1) (1)(14)C(1) (1)(14) and a R(2) (2)(12) pattern on different levels of graph-set analysis. The shortest inter-centroid distance between two centroids was found at 4.2074 (11) Å between the two five-membered heterocycles.

The crystal structure is further consolidated by C-H⋯π inter-actions and by a π-π inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.7379 (6) Å.
