ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(16)H(24)N(2)OS, is twisted about the central N(H)-C bond with the C-N-C-S torsion angle being 119.6 (3)°. The carbonyl O and thione S atoms are directed to opposite sides of the mol-ecule, a conformation that allows for the formation of a linear supra-molecular chain comprising alternating eight-membered {⋯HNCS}(2) and 14-membered {⋯HCNCNCO}(2) synthons.

Project description:The title compound, C26H42N4O2S2, adopts a shallow U-shape as both pendant arms of the 1,3-substituted benzene ring are orientated in the same direction. The thione S atoms lie to the same side of the benzene ring and the carbonyl O atoms to the other. The most prominent feature of the crystal packing is the formation of inversion dimers mediated by N-H?S hydrogen bonds. One of the 2-methyl-propyl groups is statistically disordered over two positions.

Project description:Two independent thio-urea derivatives comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(20)N(2)OS. The major difference between the mol-ecules relates to a twist in the relative orientation of the benzene rings [torsion angles = 4.5?(2) and -19.9?(2)° for the two independent mol-ecules]. The thio-carbonyl and carbonyl groups lie to opposite sides of the mol-ecule as there are twists about the central N-S bond [torsion angles = 83.90?(15) and 81.77?(15)°]. Supra-molecular chains extending parallel to [101] with a stepped topology and mediated by N-H?O hydrogen bonding feature in the crystal structure. C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions are also present.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(12)N(2)OS(2), is an example of a push-pull butadiene in which the electron-releasing methyl-sulfanyl groups and electron-withdrawing nitrile groups on either end of the butadiene chain enhance the conjugation in the system. Short intra-molecular C-H?S inter-actions are observed. In the crystal structure, an O?C short contact of 2.917?(3)?Å is observed.

The carbonyl group is twisted out of the plane of the benzene ring, forming a C-C-C=O torsion angle of -25.06 (17)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules related by centres of symmetry are linked by pairs of inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming eight-membered {⋯HNCS}(2) synthons. These are further connected by weak via C-H⋯O contacts, forming a two-dimensional array in the bc plane.

3,3-Bis(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)-1-(4-methyl-benzoyl)thio-urea: crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and computational study.

Project description:In the title tri-substituted thio-urea derivative, C13H18N2O3S, the thione-S and carbonyl-O atoms lie, to a first approximation, to the same side of the mol-ecule [the S-C-N-C torsion angle is -49.3 (2)°]. The CN2S plane is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.018 Å) with the hy-droxy-ethyl groups lying to either side of this plane. One hy-droxy-ethyl group is orientated towards the thio-amide functionality enabling the formation of an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond leading to an S(7) loop. The dihedral angle [72.12 (9)°] between the planes through the CN2S atoms and the 4-tolyl ring indicates the mol-ecule is twisted. The experimental mol-ecular structure is close to the gas-phase, geometry-optimized structure calculated by DFT methods. In the mol-ecular packing, hydroxyl-O-H⋯O(hydrox-yl) and hydroxyl-O-H⋯S(thione) hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of a supra-molecular layer in the ab plane; no directional inter-actions are found between layers. The influence of the specified supra-molecular inter-actions is apparent in the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces and these are shown to be attractive in non-covalent inter-action plots; the inter-action energies point to the important stabilization provided by directional O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C15H14N2OS2, adopts a helix conformation. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond leads to a six-membered pseudo-ring [r.m.s. deviation = 0.0212 Å, maximum deviation = 0.033 (1) Å for the N atom bearing the benzoyl group] in the central unit. The benzene and (methyl-sulfan-yl)benzene ring [r.m.s = 0.0028 Å and largest deviation of 0.067 (3) Å for the methyl-sulfanyl C atom] make dihedral angles of 31.76 (8) and 54.68 (6)°, respectively, with the pseudo-ring plane. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 85.71 (8)°. In the crystal, pairs of weak N-H⋯S inter-actions form inversion dimers and mediate a linear chain along [001].

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(22)H(18)N(4)O(2)S(2), lies across a crystallographic inversion centre. The mol-ecule adopts a syn-anti configuration with respect to the positions of the carbonyl groups and terminal phenyl rings relative to the thione S atom across the C-N bond. There are two intra-molecular N-H?O and C-H?S hydrogen bonds within each molecule, resulting in the formation of four six-membered S(6) rings. The central and terminal rings make a dihedral angle of 13.55?(15)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular C-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming R(2) (2)(14) rings and resulting in zigzag chains.

Weak C-H?Cl inter-actions further link these chains into layers parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(16)N(2)S, crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The crystallographic behaviour of the two isomers is different. The mol-ecules are dimerized, forming an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif due to inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds. C-H?S hydrogen bonds form R(2) (2)(12) ring motifs. In one molecule, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 62.54?(6)°, whereas in the other it is 79.54?(6)°. The H atoms of one of the methyl groups in each molecule are disordered over two sites, with occupancy ratios of 0.52?(3):0.48?(3) and 0.60?(3):0.40?(3).
