Hepatitis C virus infection, a major cause of liver disease worldwide, is curable, but currently approved therapies have suboptimal efficacy. Supplementing these therapies with direct-acting antiviral agents has the potential to considerably improve treatment prospects for hepatitis C virus-infected patients.
