N-(2-Chloro-phenyl-sulfon-yl)acetamide.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(8)ClNO(3)S, contains two independent mol-ecules in which the C-S-N-C torsion angles are -71.7?(3) and 61.2?(3)°. The benzene rings and the SO(2)-NH-CO-C segments form dihedral angles of 80.2?(1) and 88.1?(2)° in the two independent mol-ecules. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains in the b-axis direction.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound (N4CPSDCAA), C(8)H(6)Cl(3)NO(3)S, the conformations of the N-H and C=O bonds in the SO(2)-NH-CO-C group are trans to each other, similar to those observed in 2,2-dichloro-N-(phenyl-sulfon-yl)-acetamide (NPSDCAA), 2,2-dichloro-N-(4-methyl-phenyl-sulfon-yl)acetamide (N4MPSDCAA) and N-(4-chloro-phenyl-sulfon-yl)-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamide (N4CPSTMAA), with similar bond parameters. The -SNHCOC- unit in N4CPSDCAA is essentially planar and makes a dihedral angle of 79.67 (5)° with the benzene ring, comparable to 79.75 (8)° in NPSDCAA, 81.02 (5)° in N4MPSDCAA and 82.2 (1)° in N4CPSTMAA. The mol-ecules in N4CPSDCAA are linked into layers parallel to the (001) plane by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(13)ClN(2)O(5)S(2), the dihedral angles between the central benzene ring and the pendant chloro-benzene ring and the N-acetyl group are 82.35?(5) and 79.71?(6)°, respectively, and the overall conformation of the mol-ecule approximates to a U shape. Both the C-S-N-C conformations are gauche, but with opposite senses [torsion angles = -59.29?(15) and 63.68?(16)°]. An intra-molecular C-H?O inter-action generates an S(6) ring. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds generate R(2) (2)(20) loops. A second N-H?O hydrogen bond links the dimers into (101) layers.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound (N4CPSTMAA), C(11)H(14)ClNO(3)S, the conformations of the N-H and C=O bonds in the amide group are anti to each other, similar to those observed in N-phenyl-sulfonyl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamide (NPSTMAA) and 2,2,2-trimethyl-N-(4-methyl-phenyl-sulfon-yl)acetamide (N4MPSTMAA). The bond parameters in N4CPSTMAA are similar to those in NPSTMAA, N4MPSTMAA, N-aryl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamides and 4-chloro-benzene-sulfonamide. The -SNHCOC- unit including the amide group is essentially planar and makes a dihedral angle of 82.2 (1)° with the benzene ring, comparable to the values of 79.1 (1) and 71.2 (1)° in NPSTMAA and N4MPSTMAA, respectively. The mol-ecules in N4CPSTMAA are linked into a chain by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
