1,1'-[(1,3-Dihydroxypropane-2,2-diyl)dimethylene]dipyridinium bis-(hexa-fluoro-phosphate).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(15)H(20)N(2)O(2) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), was prepared by anion exchange of two bromide ions in the ionic liquid 2,2'-bis-(pyridinium-1-ylmeth-yl)-propane-1,3-diol dibromide with potassium hexa-fluoro-phosphate. The two pyridine rings are planar (r.m.s. deviations = 0.008 and 0.00440?Å) and make a dihedral angle of 44.0?(2)°. Intermolecular O-H?F and C-H?F interactions occur. The four F atoms in each anion were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ration of 0.700?(19):0.300?(19).

Inter-molecular C-H?F, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, C(32)H(36)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), the cation and the anions each have crystallographic twofold rotation symmetry. The benzimidazole ring is almost planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.0161?(1)?Å] and makes a dihedral angle of 5.77?(4)° with its symmetry-related component and a dihedral angle of 80.96?(5)° with the central benzene ring. The cyclo-pentyl ring adopts a half-chair conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network through C-H?F hydrogen bonds. A C-H?? inter-action is also observed.

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(22)N(6) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), was prepared by the reaction of 5,5'-bis-(bromo-meth-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine with 1-methyl-imidazole. The main mol-ecule lies on an inversion center located at the mid-point of the C-C bond joining the two pyridine rings. The asymmetric unit therefore contains one half-mol-ecule and one hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and imidazole rings is 76.93 (7)°. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds contribute to the stabilization of the packing.

Two independent centrosymmetric O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonded tetra-mers, each involving two of the symmetry-independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit generate the packing motif in the crystal structure. The hydro-phobic parts of the tetra-mers connect to their neighbours via C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [3.899 (2), 3.895 (2) and 3.803 (2) Å within the symmetric unit, 3.851 (2), 4.000 (2), 3.988 (2) and 3.905 (2) Å across centres of symmetry].

In the cation, the pyridine and phenyl-ene rings are aligned at 62.9 (1)°; the pyridine ring lies on a special position of m site symmetry and the phenyl-ene ring on a special position of 2/m site symmetry. The angle at the methyl-ene C atom is 112.8 (1)°. The anion lies on a special position of m site symmetry; four F atoms lie on this mirror plane.

Project description:The title N-heterocyclic carbene compound, C(21)H(22)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), crystallizes as an inversion twin. There are two independent N-heterocyclic carbene dications (A and B) and four independent hexa-fluoro-phosphate anions in the asymmetric unit. The cations are L-shaped with the benzene rings being inclined to one another by 88.82 (16)° in cation A and 87.03 (16)° in cation B. The imidazole rings make dihedral angles of 35.7 (2) and 32.83 (18)° with the attached benzene rings in cation A, and 30.14 (19) and 31.96 (18)° in cation B. In the crystal, the cations are linked via C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. π-π inter-actions involving the benzene and imidazole rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.602 (2) and 3.723 (2) Å] and C-H⋯π inter-actions are also present.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(14)H(20)N(4)O(3), the five-membered ring adopts an envelope conformation with the O atom displaced by 0.207 (3) Å from the plane of the other ring atoms. Intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of three five-membered rings having envelope conformations. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming R(2) (2)(20) ring motifs, which produce two-dimensional polymeric sheets extending along the b axis. Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(20)H(26)N(2)O(2), the 1,3-diazinane ring adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation and the hy-droxy-benzyl substituents occupy equatorial positions on the N atoms of the heterocyclic ring. There are two intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds between the N atoms of the 1,3-diazinane ring and the hy-droxy groups of the aromatic rings, with an S(6) set-graph motif. However, the two observed intra-molecular hydrogen-bond distances were different. Considering that both N atoms experience the same chemical environment, it is surprising to see the difference in O?N distances [2.6771?(14) and 2.8123?(12)?Å]. The crystal structure is further stabilized by a C-H?? interaction.
