ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(10)H(13)NO(2)S, the thio-phene and isoxazoline rings are almost coplanar, the dihedral angle between their least-squares planes being 2.08?(1)°. The O-H atoms of the methyl hy-droxy group and the N atom of the isoxazole ring are orientated in the same direction to allow for the formation of inter-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds that lead to a supra-molecular chain along the a axis.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(16)H(16)FN(2)O(2) (+)·I(-), was determined as part of a study of the biological activity of isoxazolone derivatives as p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibitors. The X-ray crystal structure of 4-[4-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-2-methyl-5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-isoxazol-3-yl]-1-methyl-pyridinium iodide showed the presence of the regioisomer 4-[3-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-2-methyl-5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-isoxazol-4-yl]-1-methyl-pyridinium iodide. The synthesis of the former compound was achieved by reacting 4-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-3-(4-pyridyl)isoxazol-5(2H)-one after treatment with Et(3)N in dimethyl-formamide, with iodo-methane. The unexpected formation of the regioisomer could be explained by a rearrangement occurring via aziridine of the isoxazolone compound. The regioisomers have site occupancies of 0.632?(4)/0.368?(4). The two six members rings make a dihedral angle of 66.8?(2)°.

Project description:In the title pyrazoline derivative, C(14)H(12)ClN(3)S(2), the thiophene ring is disordered over two orientations with a refined site-occupancy ratio of 0.832 (4):0.168 (4). The pyrazoline ring adopts an envelope conformation with the C atom linking the thiophene ring at the flap. The dihedral angles between the benzene ring and the major and minor components of the thiophene ring are 88.6 (3) and 85.6 (15)°, respectively while the dihedral angle between the disorder components of the ring is 3.1 (16)°. The mean plane of the pyrazoline ring makes dihedral angles of 11.86 (13), 80.1 (3) and 83.0 (15)°, respectively, with the benzene ring, and the major and minor components of the thiophene ring. An intra-molecular N(amide)-H⋯N(pyrazoline) hydrogen bond generates an S(5) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯S and N(amide)-H⋯S inter-actions into a tape along [10[Formula: see text]]. C-H⋯π inter-actions are also observed.
