Rac-2,2'-(Thiane-2,6-di-yl)bis-[1-(4-bromo-phen-yl)ethanone].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(21)H(20)Br(2)O(2)S, prepared by the reaction of 1,9-bis-(4-bromo-phen-yl)nona-2,7-diene-1,9-dione with sodium sulfide nona-hydrate in acetonitrile, the six-membered thio-pyran ring has a chair conformation while the H atoms ortho to the S atom adopt a cis configuration. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 2.59?(8)°.

Project description:In the title compound, C10H11BrS2, the 1,3-di-thiane ring has a chair conformation with the 1,4-disposed C atoms being above and below the remaining four atoms. The bromo-benzene ring occupies an equatorial position and forms a dihedral angle of 86.38 (12)° with the least-squares plane through the 1,3-di-thiane ring. Thus, to a first approximation the mol-ecule has mirror symmetry with the mirror containing the bromo-benzene ring and the 1,4-disposed C atoms of the 1,3-di-thiane ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules associate via weak methyl-ene-bromo-benzene C-H⋯π and π-π [Cg⋯Cg = 3.7770 (14) Å for centrosymmetrically related bromo-benzene rings] inter-actions, forming supra-molecular layers parallel to [10-1]; these stack with no specific inter-molecular inter-actions between them.

Project description:In the mol-ecules of the two isotypic title compounds, C18H11Br2N3O4 (I) and C18H11Cl2N3O4 (II), the tri-phenyl-amine N atoms show no sign of pyramidalization, with marginal displacements of the N atoms from the mean plane of the three connecting C atoms: 0.0058?(13)?Å for the Br compound (I) and 0.0074?(9)?Å for the Cl compound (II). In the crystals, mol-ecules are linked through C-H?O hydrogen bonds between phenyl rings and nitro groups and by X?O (X = Br, Cl) inter-actions, that are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii, leading to a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, C25H26N2OS, the diethyl-substituted benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 67.38?(9) and 55.32?(9)° with the terminal benzene rings. The mol-ecule adopts a trans-cis conformation with respect to the orientations of the di-phenyl-methane and 1,3-di-ethyl-benzene groups with respect to the S atom across the C-N bonds. This conformation is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond, which generates an S(6) ring. In the crystal, pairs of N-H?S hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into inversion dimers, forming R 2 (2)(6) loops. The dimer linkage is reinforced by a pair of C-H?S hydrogen bonds, which generate R 2 (2)(8) loops. Weak C-H?? and ?-? [centroid-centroid seperation = 3.8821?(10)?Å] inter-actions also occur in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(11)BrN(4)O(4), contains 3-bromo-phenyl and 2,4-dinitro-phenyl groups on opposite sides of a hydrazone unit and crystallizes with two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the two ring systems in each mol-ecule are 2.0 (1) and 2.5 (4)°. Weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7269 (14) Å] help to establish the packing. Intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are also observed. On one of the rings, the Br atom is disordered over two equivalent positions of the phenyl ring [occupancy ratio 0.8734 (10):0.1266 (10).

Project description:The title compound, C19H16F4O4, was prepared by the condensation reaction of 2,6-di-fluoro-benzaldehyde and penta-erythritol. The whole mol-ecule is generated by twofold rotational symmetry. The two six-membered O-heterocycles adopt chair conformations through a shared spiro-carbon atom that is located on the crystallographic twofold rotation axis. In this conformation, the two aromatic rings are located at the equatorial positions of the O-heterocycles. The conformation of this doubly substituted tetra-oxa-spiro system is chiral. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (100). These layers are linked by C-H?F hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The 1,4-dihydro-pyridine ring in the title hydrate, C(17)H(18)BrNO(2)·H(2)O, has a flattened-boat conformation, and the benzene ring is occupies a position orthogonal to this [dihedral angle: 82.19?(16)°]. In the crystal packing, supra-molecular arrays mediated by N-H?O(water) and O(water)-H?O(carbon-yl) hydrogen bonding are formed in the bc plane. A highly disordered solvent mol-ecule is present within a mol-ecular cavity defined by the organic and water mol-ecules. Its contribution to the electron density was removed from the observed data in the final cycles of refinement and the formula, mol-ecular weight and density are given without taking into account the contribution of the solvent mol-ecule.

The title compound crystallizes as a cyclic dimer resulting from the presence of O-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen bonds.
