A triclinic polymorph with Z = 3 of N,N'-bis-(2-pyrid-yl)oxamide.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(12)H(10)N(4)O(2), contains three half-mol-ecules. Each half-mol-ecule is completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The title compound, (I), is a polymorph of the structure, (II), reported by Hsu & Chen [Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. (2004), 1488-1493]. In the original report, the compound crystallized in the tetra-gonal space group P[Formula: see text]2(1)c (Z = 8), whereas the structure reported here is triclinic (P[Formula: see text], Z = 3). In both forms, each oxamide mol-ecule is almost planar (with maximum deviations are 0.266 and 0.166?Å) and the O atoms are trans oriented. The principal difference between the two forms lies in the different hydrogen-bonding patterns. In (I), two N-H?O and one N-H?N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming a two-dimensional network, whereas in (II) there are no classical hydrogen bonds to O atoms and only weak C-H?O inter-actions are found along with rings of N-H?N bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(16)N(2)S, crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The crystallographic behaviour of the two isomers is different. The mol-ecules are dimerized, forming an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif due to inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds. C-H?S hydrogen bonds form R(2) (2)(12) ring motifs. In one molecule, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 62.54?(6)°, whereas in the other it is 79.54?(6)°. The H atoms of one of the methyl groups in each molecule are disordered over two sites, with occupancy ratios of 0.52?(3):0.48?(3) and 0.60?(3):0.40?(3).

Triclinic polymorph of bis-(triphenyl-sil-yl) oxide toluene disolvate.

Project description:A new polymorph of the title compound, C(36)H(30)OSi(2)·2C(7)H(8), is reported, which is triclinic (P-1) instead of possessing the previously reported rhombohedral symmetry [Hönle et al. (1990). Acta Cryst. C46, 1982-1984]. Each of the -SiPh(3) units are related by the inversion center. The Si-O-Si moiety is linear with the O atom sitting on an inversion center, and the O-Si-(toluene ring centroid) angle is 3.69?(15)°. Each toluene mol-ecule is 5.622?(2)?Å from the Si atom and has its closest contacts with the phenyl rings outside of the van der Waals radii.

N,N'-Bis(pyridin-3-yl)oxamide.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C12H10N4O2, located about an inversion centre, is roughly planar, with an r.m.s. deviation from the least-squares plane of all non-H atoms of 0.019 Å. In the crystal, N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds between the amide N-H group and the pyridine N atom connect the mol-ecules into a corrugated layer parallel to (10-1).

Project description:The title triclinic polymorph (Form I) of 1,4-bis-([2,2':6',2''-terpyridin]-4'-yl)benzene, C36H24N6, was formed in the presence of the Lewis acid yttrium trichloride in an attempt to obtain a coordination compound. The crystal structure of the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph (Form II), has been described previously [Fernandes et al. (2010 ▸). Acta Cryst. E66, o3241-o3242]. The asymmetric unit of Form I consists of half a mol-ecule, the whole mol-ecule being generated by inversion symmetry with the central benzene ring being located about a crystallographic centre of symmetry. The side pyridine rings of the 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (terpy) unit are rotated slightly with respect to the central pyridine ring, with dihedral angles of 8.91 (8) and 10.41 (8)°. Opposite central pyridine rings are coplanar by symmetry, and the angle between them and the central benzene ring is 49.98 (8)°. The N atoms of the pyridine rings inside the terpy entities, N⋯N⋯N, lie in trans-trans positions. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯π and offset π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distances are 3.6421 (16) and 3.7813 (16) Å], forming a three-dimensional structure.

N-(4-Meth-oxy-benz-yl)phthalimide: a triclinic polymorph.

Project description:THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 2-(4-meth-oxy-benz-yl)-isoindoline-1,3-dione], C(16)H(13)NO(3), represents a triclinic polymorph of the previously reported monoclinic form [Warzecha et al. (2006 ▶). Acta Cryst. E62, o5450-o5452]. The reaction of potassium phthalimide and 4-meth-oxy-benzyl chloride in dimethyl-formamide gave platelet-shaped crystals; these were harvested and then needle-shaped crystals were deposited. The platelet- and needle-shaped crystals correspond to the triclinic and monoclinic forms, respectively. The N-C-C(ar)-C(ar) torsion angles between the ring systems are -82.66 (14) and 95.28 (13)°, resulting in a roof-shaped conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are accumulated by offset face-face π-π inter-actions between phthalimide units [centroid-centroid distances = 3.640 (2) and 3.651 (2) Å], with inter-planar distances of 3.321 (1) and 3.435 (1) Å. Weak inter-molecular C(ar-yl)-H⋯O=C and C(alk-yl)-H⋯O=C contacts form C(8) and C(11) infinite chain motifs, respectively.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)]·C(12)H(10)N(2), the Co(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminally N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (bpe) ligands. The asymmetric unit consists of three crystallographically independent Co(II) cations, six thio-cyanate anions and six coordinating bpe ligands in general positions. Additionally, three non-coordin-ating bpe ligands are present in the asymmetric unit with two of them located on a center of inversion. The Co(II) cations are connected by the bpe ligands into layers parallel to the bc plane. The crystal investigated was non-merohedrically twinned, with a fractional contribution of 0.261 (2) for the minor domain.

Project description:The title compound, C(6)H(5)NO(3), crystallizes in the triclinic system with six independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. In a previous study, the structure of the title compound was determined in the monoclinic P2(1)/n space group at 100?K [Valerga et al. (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. E65, o1979]. All six independent mol-ecules display an E configuration about the C=C double bond, with the dihedral angles between the planes of the furan rings and the nitro-alkenyl groups ranging from 0.61?(7) to 5.03?(7)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(17)H(12)N(6), the 2-pyridyl rings in the 3- and 4-positions and the 3-pyridyl ring in the 5-position make dihedral angles of 29.78?(16), 67.06?(16) and 32.97?(16)°, respectively, with the triazole group. The dihedral angle between the two 2-pyridyl rings is 65.72?(15)°. The dihedral angles between the 3-pyridyl ring and the two 2-pyridyl rings in the 3- and 4-positions are 61.28?(15) and 63.11?(15)°, respectively. In the crystal, C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6248?(19)?Å] link the mol-ecules, forming a two-dimensional network.
