Cis-Bis(2,2'-bipyridine-κN,N')dichloridocobalt(II) trihydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [CoCl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·3H(2)O, the Co(II) ion is situated on a twofold rotation axis and exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry and is chelated by four N atoms of the two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two Cl(-) ions. The crystal packing is stabilized by hydrogen bonding formed between chloride ions and adjacent water mol-ecules. One of the two independent water molecules in the asymmetric unit is disordered over two sets of sites, each on a twofold rotation axis, in a 0.734 (17):0.269 (17) ratio.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [FeCl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the coordination around the Fe(III) atom is approximately octa-hedral. The equatorial positions are occupied by two N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridyl ligands [Fe-N = 2.121 (5) and 2.147 (5) Å] and two Cl atoms [Fe-Cl = 2.220 (2) and 2.2074 (18) Å]. Weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title complex mol-ecule, [CdBr(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Cd(II) ion is six-coordinated by two cis-arranged bromide anions and four N atoms of two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle formed by the mean planes through the bipyridine ligands is 87.01 (11)°. Project description:The title mixed aqua-fluoride complex, [CrF(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)](ClO(4))(2)·2H(2)O, has been synthesized by aqua-tion of the corresponding difluoride complex using lanthan-ide(III) ions as F(-) acceptors. The complex crystallizes with a Cr(III) ion at the center of a distorted octa-hedral coordination polyhedron with a cis arrangement of ligands. The crystal packing shows a hydrogen-bonding pattern involving water mol-ecules, the coordinated F atom and the perchlorate anions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), contains a bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)(isothio-cyanato)copper(II) cation and a perchlorate anion. In the cation, the Cu(2+) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecules and an N atom from an isothio-cyanate anion, resulting in a distorted CuN(5) pyramidal configuration. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, and weak π-π inter-actions between 2,2'-bipyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908 (4) Å]. In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecules, anions and solvent water mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. Three of the four perchlorate anions are disordered over two sets of sites in different ratios.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(5)O(5))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], lies across a crystallographic twofold axis, around which two 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy) ligands are arranged in a propeller manner. The local geometry of the NiN(4)O(2) coordination core basically adopts an octa-hedral geometry. The mol-ecular twofold axis is along the direction of the mol-ecular dipole moment, and the complex is packed with its dipole moment alternately along the +b and -b directions. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
